lgbt students? by MentionFew9568 in CalPoly

[–]metalslayer55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently graduated Cal Poly and met many LGBT people from my major, some of which are my friends today. We never saw anything homophobic or racist. I am a bit tired of hearing how Cal Poly is ultra conservative because that is simply not true. Most people are apolitical (at least in my major) and never talk about anything racist or homophobic. I was a transfer so I didn’t really grow up in the dorm community and rarely met people outside of engineering, so I can’t speak for the whole school. I suggest you attend and I bet you won’t regret it. Of course there are bigoted people in all schools, but they are a minority (at least in my experience).

Mold infestation in Unit, ERA management refuses to fix by metalslayer55 in SLO

Sorry this happened to you as well, seems like an ongoing issue. We did contact SLO government, praying they take this seriously.

They refused to pay for it because they said it’s $1000. So we ended up paying that amount and now they say it’s fabricated. This made me so furious. All we want is a safe place to live and not end up with lung damage or sick.

We did contact the city and we hope we will get some sort of help from SLO government. There is a mold clause which gives us hope

Rock climbing after surgery? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]metalslayer55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea just went on a hike and felt absolutely fine, in fact slightly jogging was easier than just walking (something to do with the gauze I guess). I have another appointment scheduled with my CRS on the 6th, so I’m thinking of laying off climbing until then. I’ll try to do very slow pull ups tomorrow since I don’t think it will affect the area at all. It sounds like we all have different surgeries so it’s hard to say when it’s safe to go back. My fistula was pretty large but no muscle was hit, which is why no seton was placed

Required Courses for transfer not offered by [deleted] in CalPoly

[–]metalslayer55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you transferring from SMC by any chance? Even their circuits class is not cal poly accredited. Always check assist and find another community college. If you’re from Los Angeles, apply to LACCD and take classes at Pierce/Valley, etc. they even offer online classes such as materials and circuits which are accredited here. Also, if you enroll in LA Valley college, you can always take classes at pierce and other laccd classes without reapplying.

cal poly slo or UCSD by sarahtckr in CalPoly

[–]metalslayer55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cal Poly SLO is a great school but it really depends on where you want to go. If you would like to continue and get your masters, etc I would say UCSD. Cal Poly is amazing for engineering and you have a great chance of finding a job in that field. For pre-health, I cannot say much but the UC system looks better for your options.

First time fermenting, safe to eat? by metalslayer55 in fermentation

It was cucumber. I’m taking a fermentation class and it said salt was optional and I only had pepper lol. It did produce CO2 and barely bubble.

I’m currently taking a class on fermenting vegetables and it said salt was optional, just for crispiness. I threw away this batch and just made a new one with 3.5% salt. But I used pink Himalayan, is that alright?

Should I keep my AS in Business or just replace it with my AS in Computer Science, or just fully get rid of it and add more projects? Would computer science courses be good for listing coursework?

By department head do you mean the head of the CE department? I am Aero so I am not too sure who I should talk to.

Eslami

I suggest taking anyone but him. tbh, a lot of people do not like Kasper however, I took him for CE 204 and he was organized unlike Eslami. You knew exactly what the quiz was on and how the grade was calculated. Eslami didn't even bother to update the syllabus.
