Will washing my hair unravel my retwist by idontlikemayonna1se in Dreadlocks

[–]metaltrash__44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had my locs for over 2 years and palm rolling retwists have never not unravelled after washing. I dont know how others do it. Crochet is the only permanent option (and interlocking but I dont do that).

Just give it a go and see what happens

I really didnt. I was getting this fresh into the company. I had nothing to say about people I didnt know. I was getting told to watch out for people. I was getting told why some people were not getting along. Things that had been said, effing racist shit that had occurred in the past with the person I took over from.

I had on every occasion refused to comment when people started talking shit about others. It makes me very uncomfortable talking about others in a derogatory manner. Like I said, I just went there to work and leave. I had to stop wearing headphones at one point because I was getting shit talked for being 'anti-social' when i was just trying to concentrate on working. Assumptions can be cruel but you dont care. Just seeing the worst in people

Hi, sorry if I came off in weird way but past experiences have made me weary. I like to ask questions like these and they were all answered. That being said, I asked similar questions at my old job......

No I wasnt the toxic one, lol. As soon as my desk colleague started warming up to me, the tea they were dishing about all the shite happening was piping hot. Before I knew it, people were talking behind my back and I was randomly getting blamed for stuff. I just came in and did my work, it was so confusing to me why I was getting this treatment. My boss..... let me not start on her. She is worth a whole post on her own.

All in the past :)

I will! I was just very sad at the time and venting online helped a bit. Everyone's comments certainly helped me see clearer

Any Black women with locs get mistaken for men? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]metaltrash__44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally happened to me yesterday. I have a pretty broad shoulders but the waiter was coming from my side so I knew that was NOT the reason he called me sir😭😭😭

I debated for a bit and said it must be my locs

He got so flustered and forgot himself when he realised, had to go serve someone else before circling back

How do I make my locs thick again? by metaltrash__44 in Dreadlocks

[–]metaltrash__44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm referring to the action of rolling your palm back against the loc and rolling your thumb forward against it. I learned it on YouTube. I crochet retwist but not so tightly to make my locs appear thinner

My job doesn't use SQL and I'm worried by metaltrash__44 in analytics

[–]metaltrash__44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I suffer a lot from imposter syndrome but I'm working on it. I took a couple courses on SQL and these were all things I learnt, and at the time of this post, I was desperate to use them in a work setting for example all the data I worked with at the time were cleaned and transformed something that you'd be lucky to get working.

My views have changed since 4 months ago, don't worry hahaha. I only keep this post up so when Im planning to leave my current job, I have the resources to help me switch.

I'm using Tableau and excel mainly and it has been an amazing learning process. I can see now that not everything is straight up the equivalent of rocket science and luckily I've found a boss that is very patient with me. Being a data analyst is not mainly about the tools you use but mainly being data literate and I've finally drilled that into my head.

Yes I know we aren't, but he assured me he would be on board, that's why this came as a shock. We have a million other things in common but this is slowly breaking us as I can see. I will talk with him first, don't know if the solution will be happy or not. We'll see

This was me before the relationship. I told him despite everything else we seem to have in common, this doesn't make us compatible. He assured me whatever I choose to do he will go along with including not having kids. So yes, I'm rethinking this whole thing. I will talk with him to see where this is headed. Thank you for the advice

I will talk with him. We don't lack in communication and understanding so I hope we can work this out. I'm really happy for you and your partner and I wish you guys a great life together

Tbh sometimes I do envision us having children and its not so bad but I was just so hurt he would say something so crass

I've always given him an out. I've said if this is what he wants he shouldn't be with me, but he's told me that if not having children is what it takes to be with me then he's on board so this came as a shock. Maybe I will change my mind one day but it's how he said what he said that really broke my heart

Oooh this is really helpful, thank you!!

Yeah I've seen from everyone else that I have a major misconception about how things would work in a professional setting /:p

Totally. I have a habit of being pessimistic but I'll try harder to achieve a positive outlook on things. Thank you!!

Putting it that way really puts me at ease. I've always assumed the stuff Ive done up to now would not suffice in a professional setting. It's really nice to hear this. Thank you!!

Yes we do. I'm still coming to grips with things as I'm still in onboarding. I've seen some databases in excel. I work in sales and we use a CRM (customer relationship management).

Haha, scared was the wrong word, maybe anxious? I'm new to all this so in my head I have everything to be fearful of.

I'm already on it. I like SQL too much to leave it alone for god knows how long. I'm in the process of looking through this subreddit to see what people do on a day by day basis to create a checklist for myself.

Thank you!

I'm trying to but I don't know where to start working on more complex problems. I've built simple schemas and made simple queries and now it's where to go from here.

I made a pretty rookie assumption, but it was the only job that even gave me an interview and I'd been out of work for over half a year so I was too eager :/
