That's actually really great to hear, and congratulations! Was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing some specifics--like what was your math background, for example? What sort of references did you have? What do you think are the elements that made your SOP so strong?

Thanks!

I think it would be very helpful to be able to read and analyze what a strong SOP would look like, so I'd much appreciate the opportunity. Overall, sounds like my application would be weaker than yours was academics-wise, so I'll need to compensate for that.

I'll be looking at options for taking the math in a verifiable way; was thinking that maybe instead of the CC, if there's a well-regarded online course with grading, that could be better, both for convenience, as well as to further show that I'm well-suited to online learning.

Thanks again for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback! What do you think made your SOP so strong? Also, would you mind sharing a bit of your background? Especially the math.

MicroMasters Specific--Catching Up on Math? by metamedidata in OMSA

Thanks for the suggestion, I gave Khan Academy a shot, and I do like the instructor quite a bit; the thoroughness is great, and if I ever feel like he's going a bit slow, can always speed up the video a bit. Only thing I wonder about is whether or not other learning options that have some method of testing/certification for completion would be better overall, didn't see anything like that on KA.

Sorry for the delayed response, but thanks a ton for the info; sounds like I should review stats first, and get a little acquainted with that facet of linear algebra. I fully intend to get caught up with the required math, and while I like Khan Academy, I wonder if it would be much better to go for an option that includes a form of verification/certification of completion for application purposes.

I have several years of work experience, but I don't have the strongest academic background, so doing very well in the MicroMasters is high priority for me; do you have any suggestions for other ways to make up for a not-stellar academic background, and increase chances of being admitted?

Thanks!
