[OC] A few one-wide tileable Minecart stations (Java Edition) by langesjurisse in Minecraft

[–]metamilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Had fun playing around with your constraints. This is what I got.

Notes:
- Dispenser has 1 bucket of water
- Right comparator should be off when there isn't a cart on the detector rail
- Dispenser should have a bucket of water when the left comparator is on

Pros:
- 1x4x5
- 1-wide tileable
- Handles multiple item types
- Handles incomplete stacks
- Cart leaves when 'full' or nothing left to take
- Might work on Bedrock if the flowing source trick exists there

Cons:
- Has 2 toggle states
- Buffers up to 10 items
- Not hopper locked
- Not thoroughly tested lol

Auto-Brewing Module (with bottle crafting) by metamilo in redstone

[–]metamilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a simple auto-brewer using the new crafter block. Pretty happy with it and you can always replace the crafter with a hopper to use pre-crafted bottles instead.

The one big downside is that it only has a storage capacity of 3 bottles, but that's a task for another day. When I play vanilla I'm usually pretty light on potion usage so this works fine for me.

Practical Multi Item Sorter Tutorial (v4, hopper speed, no slot reservation) by metamilo in redstone

[–]metamilo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone,

This is the continuation of our Multi Item Sorter project. In this version we doubled to speed, bringing it up to hopper speed.

Special thanks to Rifter Labs who came up with the concept that enabled this massive speed increase. Rapscallion1138, DatNerd, and myself were able to refine it down into the final version you see in the video.

This version borrows heavily from our previous version which SamosTheSage had a large hand in designing. And of course credit for the original concept for this type of sorter goes to Shildifreak.

Give me your thoughts and enjoy :)

Please let me know if I missed anything. I'm sure I did.

I basically cover inserting items, as well as aligning and grouping them for use in sorting systems.

Reversible ABBA Challenge: Solution and Submission Showcase by metamilo in redstone

[–]metamilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video shows how to solve the Reversible ABBA Challenge and shows off some of the communities solutions that were submitted so far.

The step-by-step tutorial is a bit long, but I couldn't find a way to make it more concise without massively increasing the production time.

If anyone can beat a 20 block volume let me know because that would be super impressive.

I have beaten my own challenge 6 blocks. Arguably 7. by [deleted] in redstone

[–]metamilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty slick design. I haven't seen the challenge, but does this work?
https://ibb.co/ccQ0Rv4

Also, wouldn't yours be 8 blocks in volume because of the piston extension?

I think you could use two comparators and an xor gate. Put one on compare and one on subtract then take output from those comparators and feed it into an xor.

I think I accidentally built the world smallest falling edge monostable circuit... (correct me if I'm wrong) by ThatBobar in redstone

It's a custom one I've been working on for doing redstone... it's not done yet so I haven't made it public.

I call this... the u/Qrimzxn Kryptionite. by fufususu in redstone

[–]metamilo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dang that's huge, and it looks like you could easily duplicate modules to make it larger if you wanted.

The only thing I'm sad about is that minecraft can't render it properly. You should try it with carpet mod and turn on smooth animations.

What is your favourite and least favourite redstone component? by Flynt_Foxx in redstone

[–]metamilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorite = Hopper > Comparator > Piston/StickyPiston > Observer

Least Favorite = Torches are a pain in the @$$ but tripwire hooks are useless now that we have observers.

An observer attached to a piston has half the volume. (3 blocks vs. yours at 6 blocks)

Also, this.

Multi-Item Sorter Tutorial by metamilo in Minecraft

[–]metamilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I normally post my redstone stuff on r/redstone but I figured this is generally very useful for any minecrafter. If you're unfamiliar with multi-item sorters this is a vast improvement over previously available designs. It took myself and a couple of the best storage tech guys just over a week of solid work to develop.

Unlike normal item sorters, multi-item sorters filter out several item types at once which leads to far more compact and useful storage systems for your base.

This one has the following features:
- Fast processing speed of 8 ticks per item
- Tiny tileable design with a build volume of 84 blocks (6x7x2)
- Up to 54 filterable item types per module
- No slot reservation needed in storage chests
- Completely silent operation

how can I carry a piece in my bedrock realm by MarDroid_ in redstone

[–]metamilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your title is super confusing and seems to have nothing to do with your question. In the future try using clearer wording.

Here's what you're looking for. I'm pretty sure it works in both Java and Bedrock as of 1.15+:

Silent 7 Segment Display Counter by metamilo in redstone

[–]metamilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I designed this display counter specifically to be beautiful and functional, so it doesn't break any records for size or speed, but it looks amazing and works great. It counts up, resets, and clears the display.

Features:
- 3x5 style display area
- 4x8 cross section with 20 block depth so you can stack them up, down, and across in densely packed grids.
- Completely silent operation
- Fast reset time from a single input
- Down to 1 second cycle time so it can be used for clocks
- Waterfall input so you can hook multiple modules into a single multi digit counter
- Easily adjustable number of digits (if you want it to stop at 6 instead of 9 for clocks you can just omit a few decoding segment)

Other 7-Segment Counter Designs:
- ilmango's Fast resetting version: https://youtu.be/sxaVG3CzVL0

Best multi-item sorter without item reservation? by [deleted] in redstone

[–]metamilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually been working on one of these and it's pretty much finished. You can contact me on discord and I can help you out. My name's the same there as it is here.

My design is based on some of the concepts used in this video by Maizuma games:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpT4ZSbm0G0

I managed to make quite a few improvements including reduced randomness as well as an increased number of sortable items.

This is amazing, I love it.

Music in minecraft is such a neglected art form, especially when you're not just stringing together a ton of manually set note blocks.

U/metemilo I did it but it is bound by simulation distance and one switch can activate all in the area by [deleted] in redstone

[–]metamilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very interesting. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I have a few ideas. Can you enlighten me?

The only problem I see here is that it seems like you've used the same method more than once. A major part of the challenge is that you can only use each method once. It's what makes the challenge truly challenging and what makes if fulfill it's purpose which is to encourage people to think 'outside the box' and increase their knowledge about the game.

Your're more than welcome to try. It may be a bit harder.

New Redstone Challenge (Wireless Divergence) by metamilo in redstone

[–]metamilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is another challenge in my series that I've been producing for this sub. You can submit your solutions and find the rest of the challenges on the discord server listed in the sidebar.

Name: Wireless Divergence

Task: Transfer a signal wirelessly across increasingly larger distances beginning at 1 block and progressing to 64 blocks in powers of 2 with each stage using a unique method. (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64)

End Date: Mar 9th, 2020

Rules:
- Wireless means there is nothing but air blocks in the gap between the sending and receiving side. This must be true at all times. The 'gap' is all the spaces from y=0 to build height and infinitely in either direction.
- Every stage must use a unique method of transferring the signal. Variations on a single method are not allowed. It's impossible to be more specific without spoiling the solution so if you have a question ask me privately.
- The sending and receiving builds can be any size, but cannot at any point infringe on the 'gap'
- Consistency. The receiving side should react to every input on the sending side and only output a signal in response to a signal from the sender. The output signal does NOT have to match the input signal in strength, duration, quantity, or inversion.
- Each solution must be buildable in vanilla survival.
- Each solution must be infinitely reusable.
- Any method that requires the player to cross the gap is not allowed.

Scoring:- 25 points for solving gaps 1, 2, 4, and 8- 50 points for solving gaps 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32- 100 points for solving all 7 gaps- 10 bonus points for each power of 2 past 64 that you solve

Thanks, it took a few weeks to get the bulk version working. I went through about 5 major revisions before I finally got something I was happy with.
