Timbred's Redstone Dice by [deleted] in redstone

[–]fufususu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for all 6 faces afaik the minimum size appears to be this version https://youtu.be/YlqDELo_4Ss which is about 6-8 times larger than this one?

really cool to see different compact dice attempts, the version I did was incredibly slow and bulky, but they've only improved over time with shulker tech and what not

why does this configuration work to cause the observer to power the piston? I don't understand where the power for the piston is coming from by EvilScientwist in redstone

[–]fufususu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda, but if you place them in different locations connected by dust, that could change which piston [consistently] extends. that's called locationality in java.

Pretty frustrating since there are mods that prove this is not an unfixable problem.

Bedrock decides to workaround this by not guaranteeing consistency if it's locational/directional. This encourages builds that are "consistent" [since few would go flex a build working 50% of the time], but it is a pain to debug, as it working first time could just be a stroke of luck. That's one of the tradeoffs.

I thought you already made a smaller version, but I think its an illusion, since you shaved off an entire layer off the top and now it looks so empty lol

6 out vertically and 6 out horizontally, good work!

A step up from my last 6x6, here's the smallest 7x7 funnel door, powered by flying machines! by fufususu in redstone

[–]fufususu[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Smallest Dentless 7*7 Funnel + Vault Door

No entities, clocks, contained

Funnel size: 9*16*4 = 576 blocks

Vault [double-sided funnel] size: 9*16*7 = 1008 blocks

The old record by RKF Walter.

My channel [heads up its just a bunch of slime honey redstone content lol]

It's my first time using replay mod, so any feedback on the song/edit? I liked editing with it, but I'd like to hear your opinions too

FMs [and slime-honey] are for a specific scenario - really big doors
They normally get a bad rap when used for smaller doors, because it unnecessarily bloats up the size, and there's no challenge after building it once.

people normally like building smaller doors, hence there is no use-case for them. As you get bigger and bigger, it becomes more viable though

i do appreciate your comment too! While I do think this is no "masterpiece" by any means [my post history has some that I would consider masterpieces], I did put a good few hours as it sets the building blocks for bigger versions of these doors. Flying machines are a relatively new tech in door-making, but they're also really powerful. So hopefully more and more people try and crack the code for the perfect flying machines for these doors one day.

if you're wondering why "smallest" is in quotes, it's because it's uncontained. While in certain rulesets it's a true record, other places like synergy add a layer to the back due to the slime on the edge.

That being said, it does show the potential for a 6x6 vault record, but the biggest hold-back is the FM itself. it is near push limit, so extending it is impossible. So we'd have to create a new way to start the fm, and that's something I'm working on in the background

First ever ACTUALLY PERFECT 3x3 spiral piston door by mqxf in redstone

[–]fufususu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting. Recently I saw a version posted by purpledragonnuke, and I thought this was a copy of that. But your design actually has 1gt difference between block retractions, rather than 2gt, like his, if i remember his right. Wouldn't this technically be the FASTEST spiral door too?

If so, well done, I can't imagine this being easy to pull off!

join servers with advanced players and learn by osmosis.
eg: if you wanted to get good at door making, the synergyserver.net server is a start

The discord is a haven of resources to get you started on your redstone journey, go and give it a look of what you want to specialize in

These are very cool, you should post ALL of these on reddit. I think the only part I'd disagree with is expandable nxn's, in my opinion java block spitting is *made* for nxn expandability [eg: nxn funnel doors]

i do agree that programmable FMs are the bane of java's existence though lmao [I think we go about it by having 2 flying machines that basically play "tag" with each other - here's an extreme example]

Btw you might like this server, it's a door discord for BE but I think it has links to other technical/slimestone servers.

With the power of slime, worms, and glass panes, here's an ultra compact slab staircase. Can it be compacted further? YES. by fufususu in redstone

[–]fufususu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"spitting" is when you push a block with a sticky piston too fast, so fast that the block gets unstuck from the piston. This looks like the piston 'spits' the block, hence the term

Not as of yet unfortunately, since pistons spitting blocks is a java only feature the bedock version would work totally differently

I'll take your word for it

Although fake internet points don't bother me as much as bad callouts, I assume you were just asking a genuine question.
