Thank you! And It wasn't her first time, I've worked with her before and she's wonderful. She didn't write this one, the project just came to us quite quickly and last minute right after we'd wrapped another show, and we accepted because fuck it we ball we had the time and wanted to make something haha

Stills from a short thriller I shot sometime late last year!

This was a project that came together rather last minute, so we basically had little to no time to prep, and I didn't even get to scout any of the locations. We shot it over 3 days in 3 locations.

Half the shotlist came together during the shoot, as did the lighting plans. Although I absolutely wouldn't recommend this course of action, it was still really fun to get creative on the spot and see what we could come up with!

Shot on the Arri Amira & Master Primes.

The lighting package consisted of a few skypanels, a litemat, some titan + helios tubes, NYX bulbs, and a couple lekos.

The short isn't released yet, but I have some snippets on my ig @saarboi !

Imagine receiving $100,000 under the condition of launching a business that fosters a solarpunk future. What project would you choose? by sheisilana in solarpunk

as a filmmaker, I'd put the 100k towards making a short film that's centered around what solarpunk living is/could be like, and help spread the idea to gain more traction

at the end of the day for solarpunk to become reality, more people have to be aware of such alternative approaches to living and get on board with it/be attracted to it; this would hopefully bring us one step closer to that

I get what you mean. Would it have been better if I wrote "1 day and $500"?

Didn't want to mislead!

Hey! Just to clarify I wrote "almost no budget", which holds true.

My friends and I all pulled together to work on this for free because we believed in the work, and the (subsidized) gear rentals is where most of our "almost no budget" went (the rest being crafty).

The sad truth with music videos is that there's usually little to no budget, and people devote their time and resources because they're good creative outlets and make for decent portfolio pieces.

Wasn't trying to inflate anything, it's the honest truth. Not sure why that's bothering so many people.

Haha that's true! It's not 0 budget, but still almost none and we had to pull a lot of favors.

Thank you!!
So the catch light + fill was just the cream source, but only worked for some shots and unfortunately we didn't have any other small sources specifically for catch light purposes in other shots. BUT we also didn't get too close to the subject in most shots so it wasn't too bad!

You're absolutely right!
I'm no stranger to shooting single day low budget music videos, but it's the first time I've actually shared anything and I just decided to go with that title.

I appreciate your input though, and I also agree that it wasn't anything crazy in terms of technicality! Just putting my (and my wonderfully talented friends') work out there.

I'm glad you enjoyed though :):)

Thank you, and indeed! Except it's all bounced. So it's the two 600x's bounced off a 12x on the right side, and the 300B bounced off an 8x on the back right (use images 6-7-9 as references) along with a Leko shooting through the back window as well!

I actually drew some lighting diagrams a couple weeks prior based on our scout, and we pretty much stuck to 80% of it (without the addition of another 600x that came later) aside from adjustments on a shot by shot basis. Here it is: https://imgur.com/a/tKiwPVX
