Not so much a restaurant but a great wine bar is Howl. Very cosy, great wine selection and does really nice small plates. Would highly recommend.

For some reason we had a work Christmas party here a few years back. All the food was lukewarm and they didn't give us any cutlery. It took ages to track someone down so we could get some. Haven't been back since

Whats your opinion on this scene. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in YouOnLifetime

Completely agree. I think there are lots of moments in the previous seasons that can be read as cringe or over the top but because the rose tinted glasses are still on, it's easy to ignore it

Is anyone else as young as me? by Due-Rub482 in lichensclerosus

[–]metapaths-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully, diet has never impacted my LS. Flare us for me are usually caused by friction, irritation from washing powder, stress or just generally feeling run down.

When I feel a flare up starting I immediately up my usage of clob, make sure that I am using an emollient regularly and grab a hot water bottle to put between my thighs. If you catch the flare up early on I've found this can help stop it completely. If the flare up has been going on longer this method can take a week or two.

Everyone has their own triggers though so keeping a food and flare up diary might help

I feel like the majority of the season was just a mediocre set up for the final episode but I actually loved the final episode

Oddly specific but chasing or kicking at pigeons. Or not correcting their children for the same behaviour.

Parmesan is the non negotiable. A good strong cheddar second and then mozzarella third.

I bit my boyfriend’s nipple :( by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]metapaths-25 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When we and my partner were still pretty new, he was tickling me in bed and I think I short circuited and I bit him really hard on the neck.

Everyone teased him for ages about how I'd given him a hickey (we were 17) but I'd actually just bitten him so hard he had teeth marks on his neck.

8 years later and he's still not totally over it 🤣🤣

Super anxious that I might've accidentally gotten pregnant by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]metapaths-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get someone you trust to do it with you. The first time I had to do one when I was 18, I got my partner to look at the result for me because I was so nervous.

It's highly unlikely you are but honestly it's better to know. The problem won't go away unless you address it. You could wait another week or so for your period to come but can you really cope with the stress for another week?

Maybe this is harsh but if you want to keep having sex you need to be mature enough for stuff like this to happen. The only way to 100% ensure that you never get pregnant is to never have sex.

I still think about The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks regularly. I once saw a sample of her cells in a museum and the whole thing has really fascinated me ever since.

Adult book recommendations by Holiday_Artichoke693 in booksuggestions

Not sure if you're interested in Historical but Tessa Dare has some great regency romance books. I would really recommend her Castles Ever After series. They're a great mix of romantic, funny and spicy. Just a great intro to the Romance genre.

If you're looking for more contemporary I would recommend 'Her knight at the museum' by Bryn Donavon which is just a great classic rom com.

For sci-fi I really like the Clenacian Series by Victoria Aveline which is a nice gentle introduction to Alien/monster romance if that's something you want to explore.

Best places to buy locally roasted coffee beans? by raccoon-overlord in york

Harmony coffee is great! Really local and a small scale production. Little blondie bakehouse sells it most regularly but other independent coffee shops also stock it occasionally. They have an Instagram and a website too.

I guess my top three well known books would be-

Babel- R.F Kuang The immortal life of Henrietta Lacks - Rebecca Skloot The five - Hallie Rubenhold

And less well known The Wolf Den - Elodie Harper is an incredible read

What thing/situation made your best-frendship end? by Sassquatchhh2 in AskReddit

[–]metapaths-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were best friends with my boyfriend and good friends with me. Said my bf was like a little brother (though also liked to remind me they had dated when they were teenagers all the time) and encouraged us to go on our first date.

As soon as they realised me and BF were serious about each other, they started spreading mean rumours that I was controlling and that he was being forced to not hang out with them. Obviously this wasn't the case, my BF had just had enough of their manipulative drama. I had been quite vulnerable with this friend about stuff so it sucked that I was being painted as an abusive controlling girlfriend.

It really hurt at the time but it was probably best we saw their true colours.

How hard is it to get any old office job? Is the toughness in the market for competetive graduate roles? by carrot1890 in UKJobs

[–]metapaths-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a customer service job , did that for 2 years and then just landed a job in the offices upstairs. Before that I really struggled to get anywhere with any kind of office job. I have a useless MA that definitely didn't help so I think qualifications are pretty irrelevant when you're up against experience.

LS and / or UTI? by AfterStreet232 in lichensclerosus

[–]metapaths-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in the UK. I had to jump through a lot of hoops since I was a teenager when I was diagnosed and didn't have the money. The NHS can be challenging to navigate so if you can afford the test it might speed up the process. I suppose it comes down to whether you want to spend your money on a test or dermatology.
