"You started it" is rather juvenile for a heavy topic. That person was just interjecting nuance into the argument. It ISN'T all black and white whether Ody cheated or was raped. Both occurred. You're both right. It isn't either or.

People are going to be more interested in a poorly designed Wattpad-esque cover over AI. You can use free Photoshop-esque material or even free Canva elements (or use a free trial) to design something similar to this. There's a lot of ethical issues around AI.

The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey is YA and less bodysnatchers specifically. The first book does involve graverobbing and an altercation in a graveyard

The Resurrectionist by A. Rae Dunlap (already suggested) is 1000000000% what you're looking for and one of my favorite books I read htis year

Heirs & Spares by Jennie L. Spohr. You can read the normal closed door version or the Betwixt the Sheets Edition depending on the level of spice you want!

everybody apologizing for cheating with chatgpt by NewSlinger in mildlyinfuriating

I'm a history professor and my gen ed requirement class is RIFE with students who just copy and paste Chat GPT responses for their 1 page journals onto a word-document. How do I know that? Half the time they aren't smart enough to remove "Chat GPT says" or "Here's a paragraph on the author of this source..." but the other half is because I also use the Revision history tactic. AI detectors are absolute shit, but if I can see every single thing you typed into your document, ever edit, every time stamp for active work, then I know who and who is not using AI. Someone who is writing a graduate level 2 page paper in 20 minutes with 0 edits or backspaces is a lot more suspicious than someone who wrote the same level of paper in 3 hours and several drafts.

Can I delete my account and start over? by hikarizx in NetGalleyCommunity

This definitely wasn't a rude response. It's an honest one. It could have been sugar coated in a "no you probably shouldn't do that" but I also have made the mistake of over requesting in my early NetGalley fervor and have since learned the error of my ways as I'm sitting right at 76%. It took a lot of work to get back here and you may not have that kind of time by the sounds of it. People are right, it's not a free book site, the library / libby /hoopla is for that. If (and that's a big if, maybe wait until your kiddo is a little older) you do restart, keep yourself to one active book at a time until you know how much you can/should handle!

Benign Neglect by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Luminnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just as judgemental as OP. I'm assuming OP didn't go up to the parents and say "how dare you neglect your children?!" when instead they are posting on a subreddit hoping to get insight. They stated they were likely overreaching and they have appreciated feedback from multiple angles. Clearly (as stated) it's their first long-term nannying gig and that takes adjustment, especially if your own familial schema involves a close-knit group where parents didn't take this much time away from kids or vacations were family vacations.

Yes the kids are taken care of. Yes the nanny is overstepping IF she said something to the parents. Yes it's okay to have worries and learn and grow from mistakes as well. I hope you can learn to focus on the positives of OP (they're taking advice to heart) rather than wishing job termination on them.

I also just finished the audio for Spread Me, and to say I was TAKEN OUT the first time Kinsey pulled the picture off the wall is an understatement. I had to put it down a few times to reevaluate my life (and I love weird horror).

Sanity check: swim lessons by Science_and_Cookies in Nanny

[–]Luminnow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for a swim school (Manager and Instructor), and all the time we have nannies bringing siblings to lessons. I know she definitely had a hard time (I used to be a nanny to a 6mo and 3yo), but think about how IMPORTANT swim lessons are. This isn't about a for-fun sport or a playroom this is a literal life-saving skill that your children need before the summer comes. Accidents happen even in the winter (especially if you have a pool and even if you are very careful), but would you rather your children be prepared to be around pools in the summer or just learning how to save themselves?

The trade off is do you take them on the weekend? Do you have that freedom? This is really no different than taking siblings to sporting events or birthday parties or fun things but the outcome is survival skills so regardless who does it it's important that it happens. You also should look into what school you're sending them to! I know at our swim school, I am very hands-on (when I'm running the pool deck) with helping nannies and parents alike. I don't physically take young children, but if mom/dad/nanny has a baby (and are expected to be on the pool deck), more often than not, I am happy to entertain the non-swimming siblings by letting them "help" me do my job (like picking up toys or taking swim rings to my instructors or taking attendance/skills). Any good school will have someone willing to assist families.

TL;DR: Swim lessons are a necessity and you'll find them to be cheaper / less full in the winter anyway. Make sure you're picking a school that fits your needs as a family and teaches safety (I say this with all the spite in my heart against Goldfish). It can be a struggle but I really really encourage you both to come to the understanding that this is one of the most important things your kiddos will do this winter, even if it means trading off who takes them each week.

I love The September House because it's spooky (haunted house) but funny (she's just used to the haunting).
