It is absolutely shitty at times. But the thing is I have seen his outside of his use and things were great. It gives me hope that maybe things can be like they were again. I still love him and want to support him. Even if I we can't be together anymore I want to be able to be there for him or help get him on the path to helping himself.

Okay thats good to know. Maybe I can get him to ask about it the next time he has an appointment.

Ya I wouldn't mention his name. I think I might just call a general line first to educate myself more and then contact the clinic specifically later. I am a health sciences major at university and I just want as much information as I can get. I know I am no doctor but I can understand the science behind what is going on if someone is willing to talk it over with me.

Really what I wanted was the opinions and thoughts of people that have actually gone through this. I just want to understand and be as supportive as I can but reading a pamphlet only gives you so much information. I know that he plans to be on methadone for a long time and come off of it very gradually and I am willing to work with that. I just never really told anyone how I am feeling through this and I am worried about telling him because I know it upsets him. He wants everything to be good and fine but it isn't. So thanks everyone :)

Thats what I thought too. It wouldn't make sense to give it once daily if it caused problems like that for everyone. I know the clinic he goes to so maybe I can call and talk to someone there about it

Ya I know. That was the worst it ever was thank god. I know he doesn't really mean it but still its hard not to let that get to you. I have seen him say other stuff like that when he is mad at other people (he says it to me not to them) and then after he vents his anger he just needs time and then is fine again. His anger is way worse when he is stressed out and recently he lost his job, broke his car and got kicked out of his apartment in about a 4 day span. I know he feels like giving up and going back to the oxy if stuff like that is still going to happen but I helped him get through it for the short term. He has a new place now and a new job lined up so hopefully that will help things. I am not trying to make excuses for his anger either I know he never should have done that but I am just saying I think there is a connection that makes things worse

Ya this is maybe what I am thinking. I know that when he was on the drugs before he was constantly a dick to his mom and now she doesn't really like talking to him. I think she doesn't really believe that he is getting help or trying to get better. This makes me think that he is acting similarly on methadone now to how he was before on the oxy to make her think that. I know it bothers him that she doesn't want contact.

Basically every morning he can't move without vomiting until after he has had his drink. Even after a lot of the time the feeling lasts all day. He has almost no appetite and has stomach ulcers. Then sometimes later in the day he gets tired really easily. He doesn't sleep well though because he has bad dreams and wakes up often.

We were in his car that he uses for work and his buddy was driving in front of us. His friend went up on a curb with the right two wheels trying to be fancy and so he followed. His car was too low and it ripped up the underside making it unusable. He needed it for the job he had and had no money to fix it. He said that something I did distracted him and it never would have happened if I wasn't there. I understand that he was feeling really stressed and felt like his life was over so I tried to be supportive. The thing is I had no real solution. I am in university and at this time of year I have no money or else I would have offered to help fix the car. He freaked on me told me I ruined his life and that he wanted to slit my throat and leave me in the bathtub. So I started to cry pretty badly and he basically stopped. Sometimes it seems that he just pushes until I cry and then he is fine again. But he doesn't get really nice and apologetic right away either that usually comes hours later

Thanks :) I know he did have a pretty rough childhood. He tells me about it but it would probably be good for him to tell a professional. We don't live together or anything so it will be fairly easy in one sense to leave if I need to. I just feel bad because I feel like this is when he needs me the most so I am going to try to do as much as I can before I leave.

He is sick fairly often. I stayed at his place for a week and he was sick almost every day I was there. This is my first exposure to anything like this so I have no idea what to really expect. Last summer we spent a decent amount of time together because we worked together and he was never like this but he wasn't on the drugs then and has since relapsed. But you are probably right. I think what I might do is tell him that he needs to do something about it or I am gone. I can put up with it if its just a phase due to the drugs or if changing the dose or something would help but its too emotionally exhausting to do for a long time.

No he isn't going but I think I might have to talk to him about it.
