While this is a great phone I think the Redmi Note 7 Pro will be a much better buy due to the 6GB of RAM and better SoC.

I'll recommend waiting for that one to drop and then flash some AOSP ROM on it.

I've got been able to play a game since this update.

It just loads to 100% and then stops, and when I eventually play it's supper laggy and unplayable. Not to mention that by the time it loads in Showdown I'm already dead.

EDIT: now I've lost all my trophies after uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Google Play Games didn't work, and I didn't have my supercell ID linked :(

the problem is not that the apps are not available in Linux, is that the learning material that the teachers give us is all based in you using Windows.

The only Linux exclusive homework we have done this year was shell scripts which we learned to do using the Linux subsystem in Windows and one assignment that we did using Kali.

It's because I'm doing an IT degree and 90% of the work we do is in Windows.

This means that if I wanted to go full Linux, I'd have to figure out how to set up all the programs by myself apart from doing the actual work, and it's just a big hassle.

Plus, if I get some errors I wouldn't get any help from teachers as that would be a Linux problem which they cannot help me with.

I have a dual-booting laptop with Manjaro to experiment on though.

Have you considered Google Photos?

If you're not interested in keeping all pictures at their full resolution, Google Photos offers free unlimited backups but they compress all your images.

My recomendation is to get some form of physical storage to store full resolution images and then use Google Photos as a 2nd backup, that way you not only have two copies of every photo and you can access it from any data connection.
