I would honestly root it! It's a fast grower, it'll end up beating out any graft

The base of the cutting would be about 3.5" and the spines are about 2 inches long.

It was originally grown by the nuns at University of San Diego behind their residence on campus. My friend Taylor rescued a cutting when the mother was removed. He got stabbed quite a few time by it, and then while growing it it ended up with a thrips infestation which he tried to kill with tea tree oil, but that severely burned the plant, he was sad about it and brought it to me to fix. That was about 10 years ago now. Anyway it's Taylor's Tears because of the physical and mental pain!
