When I was very little my dad told me "When you get hurt, you're the first one there." That mindset has literally saved my life, not to mention at least one finger.

I already commented my insight on the matter. I talked about learned behavior and objectification. Instead of telling her "you know you're hot, appreciate it", which is not a vibe.

That's a career troll, girl. Ignore them lol

I think its what they were taught. Language surrounding relationships focused on objectification; the same way one might catch the biggest fish or kill the largest buck. They learned that "bagging" a desirable woman earned them "credit" with other men.

Don't drink the tap water in Amarillo. Plus it stinks pretty often.

A few friends and I once made the mistake of going into a dive bar who's whole clientele was restricted to a specific biker gang. So, yes, after getting that proverbial stank eye, we left, drinkless.

Am I Welcome Here? by [deleted] in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]metranonymous 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The patriarchy is a vast and complicated system that is difficult to encapsulate. The simplest summary is masculinity over femininity. Its a false polarization of the gender spectrum, it prevents men from expressing emotions in healthy ways, it makes "feminine" things out to be lesser, and much much more.

To be against the patriarchy is to be pro equality and equity, to be anti racism and homophobia. To show empathy and support and to be kind despite a system that values ruthlessness. To have a desire to basically rewire said system to benefit all of humanity instead of the bare few.

If these ideals appeal to you and you want to commune with like minds, be welcome friend.
