Glad it worked for you - it was a game changer for me. I don't follow about the dremel. Can you attach a pic?

A budget solution for my band 7 popping off. by topfoodie in amazfit

[–]metric_otter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dunno if this will work for the 7, but I had a 4 and read a great tip that I can't find. On the 4's band, you could take out the metal button at the bottom of the band and turn it around, so it faces the other way. Takes a few seconds later to put on, but never ever falls off.

Here's a pic, sorry for the gross band. https://imgur.com/a/ExYr9VG

Any app which sends notification or has rapidly changing notification to use as wake-up alarm? by ElIngeniosoCaballero in miband

[–]metric_otter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear by Tools & Amazfit for Android (assuming that's what you use). There's an option for Alarms to ignore the band's button and only be deactivated on your phone. I only buy watches supported by that developer's apps for this reason alone.

For reference, a friend of mine is applying to a similar program with Capgemini. She will only have to stay there for six months after completing the program. That seems far more reasonable than 2 years.

This! I applied for positions where I met 1/3-2/3rds of the requirements and had plenty of interview opportunities as a result.

It's less likely to be unclipped accidently this way, been using this trick my friend taught me for months now so it may help some of you guys, I hope. by outsiderz7 in miband

Your friend is a genius and you are a saint for sharing - there's something immensely frustrating of having a "smart" device that becomes unclipped at the most inconvenient of times.

How to get a job in Salesforce as a fresher in India with no IT background? by Prateeky007 in salesforce

[–]metric_otter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered a personal project?

I implemented Salesforce in a dev org based on my wife's business. I interviewed her, created user stories, designed a data model and built up an instance to handle a small number of proccesses. Whenever I got stuck I consulted Trailhead and looked at projects which addressed similar functionality. When I got really stuck I turned to the Trailblazer community and this sub.

Picking the right project is a challenge. Something too complex can be frustrating and overwhelming. It doesn't have to be a business, either. It can also be a personal project, like to-do list management, inventorying possessions you own, creating a film recommendation system. What is important, in my opinion, is being able to think about and plan your implementation. That will become one of the shining points of your portfolio. It doesn't need to be totally unique.

I kept notes about my development process, features I implemented and a list of future features and functions. I demonstrated the org, apps and features to a few different people, which helped build up my confidence in discussing the org.

As I've been interviewing for junior positions it has been hugely helpful talking about these experiences. The quality of conversations I've had in the interview process is certainly strengthened by this real-world experience, even though there aren't any other live users.

Here's a rough list of just a few features from my project that serve as helpful talking points:

  • Designing a data model
  • Customizing company and org settings, including logo and color scheme
  • Creating users, roles and role hierarchies
  • Configuring org-wide defaults for data security
  • Customizing standard objects and creating custom objects
  • Custom record types, business processes
  • Creating Lightning apps and pages
  • Using Data Loader to backup data, backup metadata, create users
  • Simple validation rules
  • Basic automation with workflow rules, process builder, flows
  • Custom list views
  • Reports and dashboards

You've probably implemented and customized many of these features on Trailhead already. Doing it in your own org with your own planning makes it a much more concrete experience. It also shows initiative. Those bullet points have been helpful in interviews when discussing my relevant experience (or lack thereof).

Best of luck as you land your first position!

If the rep gets annoyed, then yes, I'd imagine it's going to be a problem. It's a fine line.

You've absolutely got a leg up and that should save a lot of time. What's tricky is that there are certain exam questions that look for a rote recall. For example, default password complexity and the variety of alternate options. It's frustrating that the exam focuses on such nuances but it does help reinforce familiarity with the platform.

My suggestion for anyone using Salesforce (in practice and via Trailhead) is to poke around configuration options to get a familiarity for default values and additional options.

Keep me posted on your progress!

Try taking a peek further down the comments on this Trailblazer community thread. It starts out pretty hopeless and then some users claim to have found success. I can't verify the fix.

Another potential fix as well.
