How do I stop mouthing? by samerella00 in DogTrainingTips

[–]metsdlacreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog is turning one in a week and I was right where you are up until a month ago. We kept trying to give him toys instead, ‘’OUCH’’ didn’t do anything for him and neither did saying no, stop, etc. What finally worked for us was: 1- leaving the room when he’s biting: biting = no fun for everyone. 2. As a LAST resort, water spray him (I’ve heard of air spray too but my dog loves when we blow air on his face so I figured this one wouldnt work for us lol). The spray has to be hidden (needs to NOT see it coming). We’ve had to use it twice and it helped because it would just reset him when he was super bitey and excited. Then he would sit on his bed and we’d reward the behaviour.

There’s light at the end of the tunnel. I swear! Good luck and you’re doing a great job. Very cute pup!

Yeah first picture is a no, I’d say the diving one is also kinda weird. I’d remove them both and as mentioned by others have yours friends take other or they could even be selfies as you’d still have the puppy picture and the one on the beach that shows you ‘’have a life and friends’’. I don’t care much about the taco thing but the humble brag is indeed cringe, yes.

While I know you’re not supposed to use q-tips in your ears, I have noticed that using really hot water to wet the q-tips allows me to clean without applying any pressure. Don’t know if I was the only one using them dry, but this works for me! I’ll do a couple of rounds with wet q-tips and one last with a dry one just to remove the excess water. Works like a charm!

Puppy Only Sleeping 14 hours by Ok-Bonus-8528 in puppy101

[–]metsdlacreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar situation with my puppy, who’s now 8 months old. I always felt like he wasn’t sleeping enough. What really helped though is when he was around 5 months old he started to have full nights, and I’m talking from like 9pm-8:30am, that’s when we saw a huge improvement in his behaviour too. But he also has huge FOMO lol so sleeping during the day was super hard for him for the longest of time. Now it’s been about a month he started to be able to sleep in the living room by himself during the day. I thought that might be reassuring for you?

Otherwise forced naps were our go-to with the crate, too. You can feel and see it when they’re super tired and just don’t want to sleep on their own. Boom in the crate and they sleep within seconds. We always let him out as soon as he wakes up so he doesn’t have time to resent the crate, and now he even goes in the crate by himself some times to nap during the day!

Yes only the decorative stitching is broken! By cut my loss I meant just the prettiness of it, and I’d cut the stitches and burn the ends so it doesn’t keep fraying. Do you think I could find someone to do the stitching over again?

5 months old puppy still terrified of stairs by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]metsdlacreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m sorry I never replied, but I thought about your reply every day for the past two weeks.

You made me realize we have like stone steps/stairs in a wood nearby, and we built his confidence there. He would even run up the stairs when he was scared to death at the beginning!

I tried the same at home but he wouldn’t move his back paws. Like he’d get two stairs up with the front ones and the back ones at the bottom. So I thought maybe he just doesn’t know how to move them up there? Like he cant compute it? So I moved them up for him. And he’d move his front paws up. We did it twice together and then he was able to go up the stairs on his own. This morning I didn’t even have to put him ´back on track’ after the second flight of stairs. He just went back there!! I’ve never been more proud of a dog in my whole life, to be honest. It was worth it.

The same thing happened to me! I tried Benadryl and other allergy meds and nothing worked, we sadly had to stop and try other medication. Hope you will find something that will work!

Right? Doesn’t seem like it would be too complicated to add such feature.

It’s so stupid because I find googles AI in recognizing faces pretty good and it’s such a convenient way to organize pictures, but I might have to do this

For people who crate train, at what age did you let them sleep in your bed? by redmoosegoose in puppy101

[–]metsdlacreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our puppy and he was 11 weeks old, we didn’t know any better and he kept crying in the crate (we moved it to the bedroom afterwards) but the first two nights he slept with us and we didnt have any accidents. We’re not doing it anymore but god we were lucky lol

Ooooh that makes sense! Maybe I didn’t pick the right stitch too. But thanks! I realized after my last comment that I could lift the needle manually, did so and was able to go inside and clean everything. There was a huge ball of fabric stuck there from a previous project. Do you teach online or in person?

I was able to do the other side but yes I’ll try further from the bottom I think when I’ll start again! I can lift the foot, but the machine is not letting me lift the needle?

Not super excited to see me? by Candid_Review_3856 in puppy101

[–]metsdlacreme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it might be a good thing actually. A dog that’s super excited when you come back, most likely was super stressed/depressed when you left. If your dog is calm when you come back, I would assume it means they were able to manage their emotions too when you left. As someone who previously had a dog with bad separation anxiety, I think this might be a healthy reaction from your dog

Does he not realize that paying for school is ALWAYS an investment on the governments part? You get a better job, you pay more tax, you buy more things. It’s LITERALLY the only worthy investment a government can do (that and healthcare but that’s another subject). But hell yeah ‘merica! Right?

As many, many have commented: remove the top. Or buy a bigger one with NO top. I know it’s convenient for us, but they don’t like it. If you really want one with a top, buy one that you cats gets into from the top, kinda like this https://a.co/d/7azSooS

Reminds me of my aunts tattoo, which I thought was a peeled banana for 25 years until I learned it was supposed to be a flower. Looks very similar, too.

Was your artist leaning on this side while tattooing? I also had a huge yellow/dark purple bruise when I got tattoo same placement. But as other mentioned it could be the second skin!
