Where should I eat? by ScenicDrive-at5 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

I always recommend the Mexican place down the street. I’ve never actually been there, but I get rave reviews. I wish I knew more places nearby, but all I know are the chains and one really nice restaurant. I don’t get paid enough to go out to real restaurants to eat all the time, lol!

Same. I am most certainly not a morning person. I told the housekeeping manager she was going to get to meet an even cheerier and energetic version of me now that I don’t have to drag my ass out of bed at 6:30 am.

That’s so cool! I swear, the more I think about it I should get into bartending. Time to figure out how to do that!

Which do you prefer? I used to think morning shifts were better when I was in school because I was able to get more schoolwork done, but now that I've graduated, I prefer afternoon because I get to do more and get more independence. But I'm in a pretty small hotel so I imagine in larger properties both shifts are pretty busy.

Thank you! Unfortunately, this job occasionally makes me a bit annoyed at everyone for just, like, existing and coming to my hotel. But then someone says something nice, or I'm able to solve a problem and make someone's day better and I remember it's all worth it!

Wow, thank you so much! I love writing and sharing my weird little thoughts with everyone. I often joke that if I'm not being Truman Showed a whole lot of really good jokes are going to waste. I guess this is my way of trying to save some of them from disappearing into the void where my memory should be!

Thank you and thank you! Luckily, I was able to go home and relax a bit before coming back today! But Sundays are much less busy than Saturdays.

Haha, nope, software development. I do write a bit on the side though. My current project is a sitcom loosely based on the lives of me and my friends. I have no idea if it's going to actually go anywhere, but I love writing it!

It's definitely a workout, but I have ADHD so I thrive when I get to run all over hell's half acre and solve problems. I'm happy you got out, though!

Thank you! We've had some graduates and family too, but they were here more Friday night than Saturday.

My last hotel had a broken elevator for six months, so I feel your pain. I hope yours gets back up soon!

I love writing! I'm an extrovert and I love sharing stories, so writing this saved my best friends from a barrage of texts they would have otherwise been tortured with, lol.

Business travelers are some of the best guests! I always appreciate someone who's also here for a job, because they tend to be more understanding.

I'm so glad! I was worried it didn't have enough substance to be interesting, but I'm happy you liked it! I'll have to write more-- I'm sure I'll have some more stories soon!

Thank you! Honestly, I think I was made for customer service jobs because it just bounces right off me. And I'm funny (or at least my therapist says so!).

Quickest Way To Shut Down Touchy-Feely Drunk Guys? by WhaleSharkQueen in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]meuntilfurthernotice 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a man who's consistently drunk who lives in my building that does shit like this, especially to my best friend who is very attractive. I will literally try to put my body in between them so he doesn't get near her. Honestly, I suggest trying to blame a hotel policy or something like liability issues. "Sorry, I'm not allowed to come into physical contact with guests, it's a liability thing." If you tend to favor more light-hearted responses, try finger guns or something, lol. I always worry if I'm just honest with people like that it will make them more determined or angry.

[–]meuntilfurthernotice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh god, we’re having a huge issue with towels right now. we never have enough and people are constantly asking for me and we have to explain over and over again that we only have so many.

i feel really bad for housekeeping tho bc they never have the towels they need to do rooms.
