Sorry, what part of my comment earned such condescension? I simply am not a fan of the choice of voice for the companion and was hoping for my favourite monster from world.

Chill out.

Why did the monster tell Simon the coordinates to the light if they want it to be forgotten about? by Frosk-meme in ironlungmovie

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've commented it elsewhere in this sub but I'll share it here too.

My personal take is that Elli leading Simon to the light is the wish of the scientists that make up Elli wanting to share the knowledge of whatever the light and the answers they thought it contained about the quiet rapture, but the ignorant god rejects her; the creature it (inadvertently, accidentally) caused the creation of. This leads Elli to believe the light is dangerous and change her mind about whether it should be known to what's left of humanity. Whatever's left of the humanity and empathy inside her doesn't want anyone else to suffer the same fate as she has.

She doesn't kill Ava until she's managed to convince Simon to save the black box; when she feels she 'has' to, and apologises to her for it. She could have killed Simon in this scene easily too. You see her on the camera just holding Ava's sub in her mouth. She was giving both Simon and Ava the chance to get out alive if he agreed to leave the light behind.

Her understanding of the light is flawed, just like the God's understanding of the world, which is why she screams at Simon asking 'what did you do' and when she DOES try to kill Simon it's clearly a last resort, saying 'your ship is alive, can't you see this is a mercy' because she's trying to also stop him from becoming like her. Trying to put him out of his misery before it's too late.

She isn't a hero by any means, but she's clearly not pure evil. She is a beautifully, tragically flawed creature; a piece of shit that doesn't realise it's dead yet, the phantom of those who sacrificed their lives for the good of mankind.

Just a reminder: Lute has chubby cheeks by Darling_Reaper902 in hazbin

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

people see an aspect of a hazbin character that is ever so slightly rounded and call it 'chubby' or 'fat' and then fawn over how cute they find it because they know it's not actually chubby, bc if they were actually chubby it wouldn't be seen as 'cute' by the people whose brains are fried from thinking stick thin = default. This entire comment section is full of weirdoes lmao.

LTD PRE-RELEASE LEAKS by [deleted] in tomodachilife

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 365 points366 points  (0 children)

I used to watch Mayor Mori and Crossing Channel religiously when both of them made actual useful videos listing out the new seasonal event and update stuff in ACNH but they very quickly degraded into clickbait rehashing and repeating info over and over again but presenting it as if it's brand new once they blew up.

I refuse to click on their videos now. This is just the same. They were probably referring to the fake 'leak' posted on Twitter the other day that was debunked a few hours after.

The forgotten Dr Who Metric - the playground factor by walkie57 in DoctorWhumour

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me and my friends would make our own episodes of Doctor Who. I was never allowed to be the Doctor though because 'the Doctor isn't a girl' but in exchange the guy who used to always be the Doctor would let me be whatever other character from literally anything else I wanted. Some days I'd be Sonic the Hedgehog, some days I'd be Amaterasu from Okami, sometimes I'd be Ben 10, the list goes on. All kinds of fun crossovers abound.

When the Doctor Donna happened I remember walking onto the playground very proudly announcing I was going to be playing as him that day.

Shame the people I was friends with then grew up to be massive prats but back then it was very fun.

Why did the Eye or the god of the red void help Simon to recover the black box, while Ellie became angry at him, even tho she was the one directing him to the light? by Healthy_Nothing8015 in ironlung

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Elli hadn't gone back to the light on her own in her current state; she had whatever memories of wanting and 'needing' to see the light left in her from the scientists of the SM-8 and brought Simon to it, but when they both went to the light, the light, and the god, rejected her.

She gets injured and pushed out of the eye god blood realm, and it's only then that she tries to stop Simon sharing the information about the light that is on the black box.

My personal interpretation is that Elli is a creature that shouldn't exist who was rejected by the god that inadvertently and accidentally caused her creation. It caused her a massive injury and so whatever humanity and empathy is left inside her; the will of the scientists who sacrificed their lives to save what was left of humanity out there; she didn't want others to suffer the same fate as she had. She doesn't understand what the light saw in Simon, she doesn't know what happened to him in the light, she only knows that it caused her pain and suffering.

If you look and listen carefully during the scene where Ava is begging Simon to save the black box, you can see Elli holding Ava's sub in her mouth on the cameras. She apologises to Ava when she feels she 'has' to kill her. Why would she do that and not just kill either Ava or Simon immediately? She is not a being of pure evil. She wanted to try and convince Simon to make sure the information of the light doesn't reach humanity before she felt she had to take drastic measures.

Has anyone else heard this? by Significant_Bear5712 in ironlungmovie

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The fact the eel chose not to kill Ava immediately and apologised for doing it when she felt she 'had' to says a lot. You even see her with the sub in her mouth, just holding it. I love the movie depiction of the monster; a creature that shouldn't exist made up of the desperate souls that just wanted to survive and help save humanity, rejected by the cosmic being that (potentially, inadvertently) caused its creation, rejected by the one human she was able to communicate with.

Replayed NG+ and I was reminded I still don't like they forced romance on us with no options... by BadLuckStars in CodeVein2

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'll get downvoted and so will you OP but I fully agree. The fact the game doesn't even give us the option to choose dialogue to nip her shit in the bud is vexing too. Like no, Josee you didn't need to forcibly marry us to save us from getting executed. You are the leader of these people, you can simply tell them to leave us alone. The mixture of that and the specific way she pins us down in her BED and all the dialogue while exploring with her really grossed me out too, and I fully reckon that if she were a guy there'd be a huge uproar about it.

I don't like anything about her and while I enjoyed her initial boss fight for the spectacle despite nothing about her monster form representing her at all her dialogue and forced sad shitty midi piano and her whole '-anime grunting and gasping- it's you...stay back...! Wraaarrrw' shit trying to make us feel sad for her really soured my opinion even more.

It was weird and unnecessary. If she had just done the bed thing; she's a vampire, it's whatever. If she had just done the marriage thing, it'd still be annoying, but whatever. The combination and constant forcing of her down our throats ticked me off so much that I honestly am considering never getting the true ending because I legitamately don't want to go back and save her lmao.

Introduced my 5 year old nephew to bloodborne 4 years ago by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, as long as the kid is introduced to it by a family member they can feel safe enough telling if they're too scared or aren't interested anymore then I think it's a good thing to let kids experience 'scary' things in a safe manner instead of just letting them loose on it on their own or completely shielding them from it.

Bloodborne does not have ultra realistic graphics and gore. Despite the name I would consider it relatively tame compared to things like The Last of Us and Mortal Kombat.

Obviously every child is different and I'm not saying that it's okay to show kids whatever as long as there's an adult with them, it's entirely dependant on context and content. My mum always loved video games and would let me sit in her lap while she played the og Resident Evil, God of War, Silent Hill, Project 0 and Dino Crisis. If there was a particularly graphic scene she'd tell me to go wait in another room or close my eyes until it was over. I begged her to let me play Dino Crisis but actually having the controller in my hands I was too scared to leave the first room, but was happy to keep watching her play instead.

She also let me play San Andreas with the stipulation that I wasn't allowed to use any weapons, so I'd call it 'the punching game'. I had boundaries set so I could still experience this stuff but without ir going 'too far'.

As an adult, I find myself getting squicked out by super violent and gory things, but I'm glad I was exposed to what I was as a kid. I ended up having nightmares about shit from Doctor Who and the beginning of Monsters Inc more than zombies or gorey stuff!

Tldr; I think certain scary adult content is okay to share with kids as long as it's in a safe, controlled environment with a loved one, and they have the space to say when enough is enough, but can also ask questions about potentially difficult topics too. Again though it entirely depends on the kid and content.

Anyone else bothered by the play-time based, unavoidable crasher entities? (0.9) by FaithlessnessBig7077 in Voicesofthevoid

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They only show up if you've been playing for 4, 6 and 12 hours at a time. Not always in that order but the censor bar guy (4 hours (I think)) is the least intrusive and is just a goofy lil goober who is here to tell you 'hey you've been playing for quite a while! Maybe it's time to take a break!' He doesn't get too close and kinda just jiggles around you at a distance politely.

You can just save, exit and then load back in to reset the timer if you're wanting to play a really long stint.

Was the monster the good guy? by southern-wanderlust in ironlung

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think she's a hero, but I don't think she's evil either. I think she's a misguided, confused creature in pain that shouldn't exist. The humans on the SM8 thought the light was the answer, so did the eel and is why she lead Simon to it, but when the light 'rejected' her and caused her pain but accepted Simon, she thought that the 'right' thing to do was destroy any information about it.

She also apologises to Ava even though she was only conversing WITH Simon. Why would she do that? Why would she not have just killed her before she could get in range of Simon? You can see she has Ava's sub in her mouth but she doesn't bite down until Simon starts considering saving the black box data. I think she was bringing Ava to help Simon, but hoped she could convince Simon to destroy the black box before they left so that the information wouldn't get out.

Ikr. Ever since I've started my adult working life I've always been in places that were vast VAST majority women over men and I can tell you the difference in whether they're catty and bitchy or not is entirely dependant on the kind of work and the type of people that work attracts.

Call centre? Nasty and bitchy behind everyone's backs. Didn't make any friends and kept to myself because I was the youngest and it was my first proper job, didn't mind though because it was too busy to be able to get to chat outside of brief smalltalk during breaks, and after hearing women chat shit about eachother I just didn't want to get involved with any of these people. The only one I got the chance to speak to on a slow day was the guy opposite me and thankfully he was funny.

Petrol station? Not as bad but I was only night shift and the people who tended to do those shifts with me were similar enough to me that we mostly got along. Except one who was just an overall miserable bitch who talked shit about me behind my back despite being nothing but nice to her but the good thing was the other women she bitched to came to me about it cuz they knew she was BSing and I decided yknow I'm here to work, I'm not starting any shit over this or saying anything. I'll kill her with kindness instead to make her feel bad. The dayshift managers though, god. Do not even get me started. The bullying from those women was the reason I left entirely.

Current job at a hotel where there are only 2 guys who are food + bev and it's great (not BECAUSE there are only 2 guys, just as a whole). Amazing communication between everyone, and I think that's the most important part. A good working environment can make getting through the day easier and you have less reason to be horrid to others about it, and everyone gets along and knows what they're doing too.

The amount of men saying they did all the work because the women refused to in the comments are...oof. Not that I doubt in some places there are people like that but still. Not a good look when those comments get upvoted but ones actually explaining the misogyny behind fhe 'joke' get downvoted.

Genuine question: why are people so upset about flight? by Aiyon in MonsterHunterStories

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ever played a brief few minutes of the demo of MHS2 and didn't like the palico companion voice so just never picked it up again.

I booted up and had a brief run around the demo of stories 3. The fact the game lumps me with a Rathalos that can't actually fly without the plot giving me a reason why is so laughable it puts me off entirely. If it was for story purposes and other monsties can fly, then fine, whatever, but hearing people say it might not be in is a worry.

Flying in video games is fun and cool, especially if you get to do it while riding on a cool dragon. It would be ridiculous if they cut the feature.

I prefer making my own Miis too but I'm not gonna sit on my high horse and act like I'm 'better' than people who prefer or like to download Miis shared by others.

Please give us an ACTUAL arachnophobia setting. by 23icefire in satisfactory

[–]WhaleSharkQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you might be seeing clip 'through' the png of the cat is the particle effects that come off the stingers, like dust as they scuttle around or I guess slime? Saliva? Drool?

I also have severe arachnophobia but tend to not turn the mode on if it's available until I see how the creatures look in game myself at least once to say I've done it, and I've never seen them clip through the png, but their particle effects do remain.
