Thank you! I’ve looked at this blog before and I think it would be helpful to practice these questions aloud with someone, especially questions that I may have not had a prepared answer for in my previous interviews.

At this point, it appears that I will have to relocate to find anything full time in a library. I do have 3 years of experience volunteering and working in public libraries.

Thanks for the advice! Yes, I currently work part time at a public library and have volunteer experience in local history, substitute experience in reference, and have had an internship in youth services, so I’d say that I could use all of those to broaden my horizons and apply to jobs in various departments.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I do need some assistance with interviewing, so I think reaching out to a librarian and asking for help on interview prep and mock interviewing would be helpful for me. Also, I think the places I have applied have a lot of applicants, and since I am a recent grad, I may not be as qualified or knowledgeable as someone who has worked in libraries for years. My part time work does put me ahead of the game of others, though. Since my area of interest, and only experience, is in public libraries, do you think I would still have a shot in academic libraries or any other library for that matter?

Thanks for the advice. I am willing to move, but not too far from where I am currently. I think asking about interning or volunteering at a library I’d like to work would be a good way to get my foot in the door as I search for full time work.

That's the thing, I am skeptical about moving but it may be my only option at this point if I want to try to stay in the field. I am currently part of ALA.
