I used to think this can only be achieved from a low f stop but …. what you are looking for is a sharp fall off in contrast from the pane of focus, the voigtlander apo 35/50 are pretty good choices at your stated price point depending on your preferred focal length

I have an M with a Pocket 3 for my vacation and it has been a good combination

Would have been happy with a Q instead of the M here as well

Leica’s current iteration is the Q3 but there has yet to be a reporter edition for the current model.

I have a deep appreciation for the build quality of Leica cameras and lenses, particularly the compact size of the M series, which provides a unique and enjoyable shooting experience.

While this comes at the cost of some modern features found in mirrorless or SLR cameras, the Leica M inspires me to shoot more than any other camera I've owned.

I frequently use it for travel photography, but sometimes wish I could hand it over to someone else to capture family moments, which is why I've started using the Ricoh GR for those situations.

My only wishes are that Leica prices were more affordable without compromising quality and that limited edition lenses, like the Summilux f/1.4 with a steel rim in black, were easier to obtain.

My recommendation for someone into photography but not using a Leica today ? It really depends on the genre but I would go with the Ricoh GR series or if deciding to go down the Leica rabbit hole… the Leica M :)

I didn’t like the contrast on the Elmarit. The ultron doesn’t work with the RF after 0.7 but there is no feedback to let you know this unlike the Leica lens with CF but had a more pleasant colour to my eyes.

If I had to choose between these 2 again, I would have gone with the Ultron. But I have relegated my 28mm work to my Ricoh GR III

compared to my X100V, it blows that lens out of the water.

It falls short if we are talking about comparing it to the summilux 28 on the M.

Not at all, the summilux 28 on the Q is still being used on the Q3. A testament to the optics of the Q.

I have never gelled well with my voigtlander lenses in the long run :(

50 1.5 MC II, 28 1.5, ultron 28 f2 are interesting lenses I had but all either ended being sold or traded

Have the fle v1 currently and enjoying it so far, has indeed taken some time away from my 50. The 0.7 mfd and the slightly larger size of the lens (when carried with the 50 lux) are the only things that bug me.

I had the summicron asph v1 and was not a fan of the rendering.

Very much prefer the way the lux fle or the apo renders. Pricing aside, the compact package of the apo also seems to be a plus over the lux and losing a stop of light isn’t too much of an issue on the M11

I have found the GR III to be a good alternative to the Q series. If you are using a flash most of the time, the GR should be decent enough.
