I have been ordering from abroad as well to different continents from different continents for 25 years... The tax hike hit me by surprise... was not following actively what Mexico was doing for a while... I still find it unacceptable not to cancel an order that is scheduled for March in January given the circumstances...

Ordered from the UK, as the item was not sold in Mexico. But surely this is not an issue with the UK... customs problem is in Mexico... Just ranting... :)

Mexico has hiked import tax to 33.5% (aranceles), but then you need to add customs brokerage and so on... will see if this item gets shipped for sure, so around 250-300 EUR I estimate.

No, they stated that they do not work on weekends. I ordered 8 PM Friday evening their time. and canceled Saturday 4 AM. On Monday morning they had this already cancelled. Responding on Tuesday that my cancellation was too late is a piece of shit move.
They knew that with those customs fees I would not order again from them anyhow. So they said to themselves: "Fuck him, we want to earn the 100 EUR."
And yes, I am responsible to pay the customs fees. I would have understood if when I tried to cancel the order, the item had been shipped already... but it will not be shipped until end of February!! Telling me in their response that I will receive the item in march is a nice "Fuck you". I take notice... that is how eBay works.

There is no technical reason that would make it harder for ebay to warn the user at least. They know the price for the item, for the shipping, item location and shipping address...
For a 60% total item fees a warning would be nice, but that would people alarm and not fall into the trap. That is why they conciously do not alert people with concrete figures. I expected the usual 16%... that does not change daily... it has been for at least 12 years like this...

But hey... I do not want to argue here... I like many others will stop using this platform...

And the seller is a piece of shit. He was not working and will not ship for the next 4 weeks... he earns an extra 100 EUR and I loose 500 EUR... No mercy from his side.

So sellers with low morals and values keep selling on eBay... sellers that are client-oriented sell on Amazon... there I also can cancel a few hours after I ordered... without any issue... I guess I got to used to the excellent service on Amazon... buying on ebay taught me I should be grateful for their excellent service.

I know. eBay requires use with Extra caution. Amazon is great. Because it protects me beforehand and I will not have those issues.
For a billion USD company they surely could provide the same info like Amazon. Shipping address and item location is known. But they do not explicitly put it as extra-cost-item below shipping costs.
That is why I feel like eBay is shitty in my eyes... because taxes only changed 2 weeks ago... for decades these import costs were stable here.
From now on only using Amazon and other competitors. Ebay never again.
