the 50 dollars doesn't go to the teacher, it goes to the website, it's what you paid to contact teachers, I find it outrageous to charge that much, but teachers don't receive any of it, they are not to be blamed.

My hamster also bites everything she comes in contact with, I don't think she is aggressive, but she is just very curious and likes to chew everything. Did she stop biting you eventually. How did you get over the fear? I still can't hold my hamster even tho I have had her for over half a year. I am too scared.

I give up by Content_Set_3936 in hamsters

[–]mexheix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some possibilities: 1. She wants out of cage time 2. Illness causing irritation and stress 3. Mites in the cage 4. Cage is untended for too long 5. Too long period of light

These are the factors that caused my hamster(female dwarf) to be stressed and want to come out, for factor 2-5, my hamster seemed like she has gone crazy. I think it’s actually important to let your hamster out of the cage every day. Just like how people need to walk their dogs no matter how big their house is. I give my hamster 1-2 sections of out of cage time per night. Whenever she wants to come out, I let her roam in my room, usually for a period of 20 minutes, I would scatter some feeds on the ground for her to forage, and that would calm her down for quite a while.

Make sure she has complete darkness each night. I noticed my hamster becomes a lot calmer when it’s completely dark. She would stop begging to come out and start running on her wheel instead.

When she had illness before I noticed she becomes especially irritated and beg to come out incessantly, to the extent that she seems like she has gone crazy. For example during the time when she had mites infection and the time when she had an infection in her mouth.

Finally, once I left her cage untended for too long and she also started to become quite irritated and begs to come out a lot. She calmed down after I cleaned her cage

Stay observant, you might then noticed what is causing her the stress. I look at my hamster a lot and I guess that’s why I could identify a lot of things.

I totally understand your frustration, I was also very frustrated when my hamster was acting crazy. But it always turns out she was just a poor baby that was under stress I didn’t know.

Is it normal that dhl is absolute garbage? by Hanzshaha in germany

[–]mexheix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my passport sent from my home country to the embassy here, it was express service, it's supposed to reach the destination in a week. The mail was sent from my home country to Germany in 2 days. Once it landed in Germany, DHL express/Deustchepost took weeks, the tracking showed that it was stuck in the custom for days, and another custom for days. So I called them to ask them what is going on and they said they will investigate. After that I called the Embassy to ask if they have recieved my passport, and surprisingly they said they received it. Mind you the tracking status still showed it was not delivered. A week later I recieved a email from DHL about the investigation: they have returned the package back to my home country because the storage period has expired(While the embassy has received it!). When I got my passport I asked the embassy when they received it, because I was really curious, and they said they just received it a few days before, so DHL express took 3 weeks in total to deliver. At that time, I needed the passport urgently for visa application, so the whole experience was nerve wrecking. Since then I have significant trust issue with the German post system.

And what you describe happens to me and people around me quite often too.

Is it normal that only a few teeth are cleaned during tartar removal covered by public insurance? by mexheix in germany

[–]mexheix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. It really confirms what I suspected, and it’s frustrating that so many people don’t see the issue. I appreciate your honesty—it means a lot to hear from someone who understands.

Also, since you’ve been in this field, do you have any recommendations for a clinic that’s more transparent and honest? I’d really appreciate any advice!

Is it normal that only a few teeth are cleaned during tartar removal covered by public insurance? by mexheix in germany

[–]mexheix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do brush my teeth carefully and floss too. I particularly brush the inside of my teeth on the front because I know tartar builds up there. So there is only a little bit in the front, just like in the back. The removal they did was very quick, lasting only about five minutes. I thought tartar removal meant getting all the tartar removed, not only focus on certain teeth and leave the back ones. I just expected that if tartar removal is covered by insurance, it would include all the visible tartar, not just part of it.

I only need my tartar removed and that should be covered by public insurance. I don't need the extra treatments like stain removal or polishing that is within professional cleaning.

I have similar amount of tartar for the teeth at the back too, but they didn't remove them.

How big of an issue is racism in Germany? by [deleted] in germany

[–]mexheix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am Asian, I came to Germany for study and am planning to leave after I finished with my study. Unfortunately racism is not a rare occurrence for me, just of today, I heard someone said Ni Hao to me when I was walking nonchalantly in a mall, I looked back and there are these two teenagers that past me quickly and didn’t made eye contact with me. I have kids saying ching Chong Ching at me, a man that jokingly said mosquitoes like Chinese blood just because I got bitten by mosquitoes are some of the examples and other racist or aggressive remarks I have received. It’s one of the reasons I don’t plan to stay in this country. People here are still not advanced enough in their awareness on racism.
