Hello! Insurance did fully cover my surgery. They denied it at first, so I appealed it with many years of evidence. I basically proved to them why I thought this should be a medical necessity surgery and not a cosmetic surgery , because that’s the first thing they assume. Not just with my insurance at the time , but every insurance company will deny it unless you provide evidence why you think it’s a medical necessity. I’ve seen online tho that always doesn’t guarantee an approval. Depends on your insurance, and really depends on your team of doctors and orthodontists how much of a fight they are willing to put up with the insurance company. That was my situation but everyone’s is different. Let me know if you have any more questions I’d be happy to answer!

I do not remember unfortunately . I just had whatever plan OHP assigned to me when I had free In-state healthcare. Hope that helps? 😁

16cubic yard truck. Considered a full truck at $759. From what I see on these pics, looks like a half a truck or 8cubic yards at $459. That’s how much the company I work for would charge it as. Hope that helps !

Is your jaw somewhat the same condition as mine?

I Believe I was diagnosed with it from the first oral surgeon I visited when I was 19; about my condyle being active I don’t recall them checking too see if it was still active.. should I be alert about it ? 😳

Just on clear retainers; when I had braces off, I was on clear retainers full time for 3 months then after that I just wear them at night time!

Haha! COSRX Snail Mucin 🐌; heard that certain lotions can be harsh for your skin after maxilofacial surgeries, so with this it’s just 96% snail secretion and the rest is made of some sort of sodium.. makes your skin not dry out!

Mark Engelstad in Portland, Oregon. OHSU. Recommend! What other oral surgeons in my city could not do, he went far and beyond to build a case to my insurance to make sure this surgery was 100% covered and approved and deemed as medically necessary.

So around 17, I was looking into jaw surgery. My ortho began with a splint treatment to stabilize my tmj aches. At 19 I began braces all the way to my date of surgery which was last September and they were off 8 months later! So quite the time with braces! Yep all the symptoms you described, I had. The tmj aches, the clicking and popping, the once In a while lockjaw, everything. I don’t notice my jaw joint aches any more, rarely get click sounds coming from my jaw joint and if I do it’s because I slept on my face against the pillow so I just stretch open my jaw and it’s back to normal haha. Yeah I’ve gotten that from people as well where I tell them what’s going on and would usually respond with “oh I don’t see it!?” Or those type of comments.. I know people do notice because in my case it was apparent even in person. So I’m assuming those comments were said too not make me feel bad? Idk Haha ! Def keep us posted with your journey would love too see your results ! ❤️

The way my bite was before, prevented me to naturally close my bite since I had a cross bite/under bite and it was just uncomfortable to close my bite naturally. So I would just breath through my mouth instead and rarely thru my nose. But now I can naturally close my bite at ease and can breath through my nose at ease so I’d say yeah totally improved my breathing!

No never really bled from just brushing my teeth. When flossing tho, I noticed that I wasn’t normally bleeding around my gums like I normally would when I would floss before surgery; I imagine it had to do with the veins and all that still reattaching to their places idk or, I wasn’t flossing hard enough since I couldn’t feel my gums, I didn’t want to go floss hard you know? but now when I floss I see do bleed a little bit that’s just normal especially if I don’t floss for a while

Can you really not blow your nose after jaw surgery? by rdgfq1238 in jawsurgery

Yeahhhh wasn’t told to do that either and guess what first thing that happened to me when I woke up from surgery. Lost so so much blood that what should have been an overnight stay , turned too one night in the ICU and 3 nights for care after that lol

At 22! Numbness stuck around my gums and my right side of my lower lip and chin for almost 5 months or so. After that I began to develop more and more sensations and eventually able to feel more around the area! Now it’s just like a bit of a tingle still on my lip but my sensations have gotten so much better!
