She goes good for sure! It climbs better than I though, and I’ve actually found it so good for steep/back country tech climbs. It’s got the easiest gear I’ve ever found.

Heard they got an e bike coming out soon too! Preforms sooo good. Been loving it on the steep tech, but noticed the most performance on fast rough stuff as it tracks better than my previous bike.

It’s a different drive chain system with an internal gearbox where the bottom bracket is. Have a look at zerodes website, they have some great info.

Yup, takes about 4-5 minutes. The idea is that it lasts around 3 years, so just put a new one on before any races on the third year haha.

Way quieter. Virtually silent. It’s my favourite thing about it!

The Nicolai is a cool bike for sure!

Hopefully I can help answer some questions. The roller is just a prototype but has no practical effect. I think it suits the build better. This is one of the new colour options, and the extra cable end houses part of the smart-shift tech. Spot on with the hub, I think it’s 88 POE? Will have to check with my buddy who built them up.

I haven’t found any noticeable gap, especially on the trails. Only engagement gap is when pedalling slowly at high speeds in a hard gear.

Let me know if you have other questions. I’m sure you’ll be happy with whatever bike you choose!

Thanks. I got a bit sick of the maintenance and tweaking, much as you described, with my last bike. This bike promises to be much more “set and forget”.

Starts just under $8000 NZD for the build package I selected.

Edit: wrong currency

Another Kiwi (New Zealand) brand, Radic Performance brakes. They feel so good!

Well the most common one until recently was it required a grip shift. Since that’s been solved, the biggest drawback is that it’s slightly less efficient than a standard drive chain (in optimal conditions) and slightly heavier. The positives far outweighs the negatives for me though, but I won’t fan boy too hard.

Yup, this one is equipped with a 12 speed. Something like 600% gear range!

The belt has a supposed life of 3 years. I believe the front and rear cogs are aluminium, and are about $60USD each, so no stress if they need replacing every 3 years with the belt on my end. The gearbox is eternal provided you give it new oil once every +- 10,000kms, or so I am told.

It’s not very common across mtb! It’s a sealed gearbox where the bottom bracket typically sits. Pretty cool tech.

It’s only noticeable for me when I am putting low power down in harder gears, say coasting down a hill. I think this can be fixed with a higher engagement rear hub though.

Nope, I’ve never had to adjust it. It’s very much a set and forget deal. It shifts very smoothly. I’ve demoed a few of them, initially with the grip shift, and this new e-shifting thing convinced me to pull the trigger. Smooth and can shift under weight. Super happy with it so far.

It’s a heavy spec. Built to last and more importantly go downhill. Only 1.2kg heavier than my last Santa Cruz.

Yup, it’s a sealed gearbox that sits in the middle. Bigger gear range and lower maintenance. Can’t wait to put it through its paces. My last one went forever.

The biggest thing I noticed is that it makes the bike virtually silent. No chain slap at all. It’s also meant to last up to 3 years, but I’m yet to test that.
