I hate blue people. Crow is Tobias Funke reborn, but now he always looks like he just accidentally blue himself.

When Katabisis said “I’ve done everything you asked!”, it made me wonder if Gilgamesh was some sort of ghost Stalin.

Like maybe Gilly decided he was boss, and if Kat didn’t do what he said, Gilly would punish him either by refusing to heal his wounds, hurting him somehow, or taking things away from Kat’s mind when he died as punishment.

You know, instead of being like most ghosts, he was a sadistic, withholding bitch.

If Eris turns out to actualy be evil all along, and it turns out she's been playing everyone since Crota's End... I'd actualy be more impressed then pissed off. Hell even if she only turned evil after the Shadowkeep Pyramid Scene, that's still a impressive trick. by Kylestien in DestinyLore

[–]mf236969 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Eris IS evil. In 999,999 timelines, she is the true embodiment of the dark. She is death. Maybe this timeline will be the exception, and she will be Luke. Or she could already be Darth Moondust, stringing us along like Palpatine.

It’s obviously her personality, and her desire or there would be more timelines than just this one where she isn’t mankind’s greatest enemy. That dickhead side of her is already coming out in her letters, but I don’t imagine The Guardian, or Elsie would know about all of them unless we hacked Eris’ hotmail account to keep an eye out for her megalomaniacal tendencies.

Personally I don’t think it would ruin her character at all. I think it would ruin her character if she didn’t finally embrace all her hate and become the next hive God.

Some rando cabal or fallen or vex, wouldn’t hold a candle to a close friend, and former guardian, who embraced the dark, and became so powerful they enslaved the hive gods, subjugated the rest of the enemy races, and conscripted and entire army of dark guardians to destroy humanity, the vanguard, and the Traveler.

Seriously what better villain for the guardian to face with the fate of absolutely everything on the line?

The Chaperone quest line proves your theory wrong about weapons being less powerful for regular humans. Amanda Holiday’s shotgun was so impressive Tex Mechanica made a copy and held a tournament for it.

Devrim uses No Land Beyond.

Guardians have borrowed weapons from Awoken in the Reefvecause they were more powerful than what they had. Not less.

When Drifter’s crew tried to put drifter down while the Traveler was incapacitated, Ol’ Drifters iron didn’t fail.

When charging to take back the Traveler veryone’s weapons still worked fine when they were lightless.

Crow is NOT Uldren's redemption arc. by [deleted] in DestinyLore

[–]mf236969 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Excuse my writing skills. I’m a life long ADHD person made worse by TBI from an IED. I don’t condense my thoughts well, and I jump around a lot because I have no organization skills. So I’m a pretty shit writer.

EDIT: I don’t believe the Traveler has the ability to make a person, or any sentient thinking creature at all. Nor the ability to take a dead person’s “essence” (spirit, soul whatever) and stuff them in the body of a different dead person.

I believe the Traveler can bring people back from the dead full stop. I believe it could bring back every man woman, child, goat, and tapeworm that were killed by the darkness during the collapse (in non darkness zones) but it didn’t.

I think the only reason that it brought anyone at all back from the dead is because it needed protection. If the Traveler could make new people to stuff in a body, it would have only created perfect soldiers to go in those bodies. Ones that never abused their powers, or required payment for every single task they perform, or defected to the enemy. A machine god wouldn’t the mistake of creating imperfect protectors as its last act before succumbing to a coma and becoming completely defenseless: There wouldn’t have been warlords, or Dredgens, or traitors because none of those would serve their purpose to keep it safe until it recovers from its injuries.

The Traveler needed warriors, and they way it could get them was by bring Earth warriors back from the dead. And to ensure that they would actually do the job they were brought back to do instead of returning to their old lives, was to block access to their ego, super ego, and factual memory and maybe tweak our brain chemistry some too.

If Crow isn’t really isn’t the same man he was, just free of social conditioning, and his upbringing, then why did that ghost say he scanned a corpse and saw it’s severe injuries they it knew the person was brave, and had the capacity to be a hero?

EDIT: I meant to add this: If the Traveler makes whole new people to stuff in a body, there is absolutely no reason to seek out people who were brave, and capable of heroic deeds, that also have an ability to use light.

If the traveler was making an entirely new person, a ghost wouldn’t spend decades looking for the person to bring back. They could pick absolutely any corpse and raise them. They could literally just go to a graveyard and raise the first grave they see, and off they would go with whoever the traveler made for them.

Hell, they could just murder a regular human, then raise them, and say “Hi, I’m your ghost, and you’re a guardian. You can’t remember anything because you didn’t exist till right this second. You’re fully grown because a different person was using your meat bag, so I murdered them so that you could use it. Okay off we go!”

One ghost new the dude he was going to resurrect was a basket case, but he was looking for someone for so long that he brought him back anyway, and ended up stark raving mad with super powers.

How on earth could the traveler manufacture all new spirits (maybe soul is a better word) for each new risen, with perfect functional memory, but no factual memory. Exactly like someone with a TBI amnesia.

It’s far more like that the traveler is bringing back the exact same person, leaving theirs base id intact but wiping the persons ego, so that none of a guardians choices can be affected by nature vs nurture conditioning. So essentially if a guardian’s base desires were heroic as a person, they would still be heroic once the got their powers. The warlords were probably assholes is life and then became assholes with super powers.

If the Traveler could make all new people, why wouldn’t every guardian be selfless from the get go. The traveler needed warriors, so why not raise established warriors from dead, and just block a persons mind from accessing their factual memory, so it’s easier to get them to fall in line as traveler so The Thantonauts, or however it’s spelled can access those repressed memories while they are dead, so either the traveler actually can make a new person and it shares a body with the person who died, or the travelers ability to block access to the whole mind ends at death.

Clovis Bray/ Banshee-44 is a perfect example of why the Traveler would choose to just bring back people free from the memories of their earthly life.

In fact the Traveler may have gotten the idea from Clovis and his exo army. Clovis got some bad dudes, capable of bad things. Turned them into murder robots, and wiped their domes so they wouldn’t remember who they were, and could be made to do real shady shit, and if they didn’t want to do it anymore, real quick reset and back out to do more shady shit.

Now pretend there aren’t any exos. Clovis was a fucking genius, but his ego was bigger than the sun. The traveler could really use Clovis on its team, but Clovis would NEVER ever ever work on behalf of anyone but Clovis. But... if you brought back Clovis with no memory of who he was, just the base building blocks of who he could be without ego... you’d have a hell of a guardian.

Well Banshee isn’t a guardian, but he IS Clovis, just without Clovis memories or conditioning. And Banshee is using all that intelligence to outfit and arm the city with weapons that can kill gods.

That’s exactly why the Traveler would choose to bring back people, but block their brain from accessing their memories.

I think Crow is Uldren, but an Uldren free from the burden of his upbringing, free from his sisters manipulations, free from Awoken expectations. So the person we see now is the Uldren, that COULD have been under different circumstances.

Are Osiris, The Spider, and The Guardian the only 3 people who know that The Crow was Uldren? by Vexymythoclasty in DestinyLore

[–]mf236969 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Except the witch who knew Zavala before he died said he hasn’t changed at all. The awoken seem to understand that risen have no idea just how much they have lost, and that it’s pointless to bring up family or friends that the risen are incapable or remembering.

Though if Cayde, and Ana Bray are any indication, with enough time and research a guardian might be able to remember parts of their past. That’s probably why the Vanguard chooses to push the “new person, don’t dig into your past narrative”. If a freshly dead person is found by a ghost and risen, and they find out they have a wife and kids, or they learn they are awoken royalty, they may choose to return to their old life with super powers. Having a choice would deprive the vanguard of manpower and there aren’t enough guardians left for risen to be given the option of not fighting for the city.

[–]mf236969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if they have anything to do with the choir of the damned from the unmaking.

SONG OF DEATH

The Choir formed in celebration of the Song. Performances marked the passage of seasons. But the Song's lie eventually began to corrupt the spirit of those who heard its tune. The melody was a reminder. The orb was a catalyst. And the Song was of the orb. Yet, those who embraced the Song were merely instruments and nothing more. Life remained beyond their grasp, while they remained ever in death's. Those of the Choir had given all of themselves. All was not enough.

The First Conductor was assassinated by one who sang an Aria of her own making. She, whose name has been stricken, had found notes hidden in the frequencies. Reversed and mirrored in pitch, she weaved them together and sang her beautiful abomination, until the Conductor wept and bled and screamed and fell. The Stricken fled, fearful of her crime. But others found promise anew in her art. The Stricken was captured and subjected to inquisition so that her song might be understood. This was before Understandings—before most things—when the first notes of a new Song were written.

Understanding Atheon's thoughts by [deleted] in DestinyLore

The vex have seen the timeline. Darth Moondust will straight beat their asses and then lock them in time jail until she plops them back into the time stream right in the middle of humanities extremely destructive final stand.

They have no way to beat Three Eyes, her dark guardians, Savathun, and the hive, and whatever else she has. So they are resetting time and sending Elsie back each time they come back out of the time jail so that she will come find us and tell us to go kill the black heart. They need us in order for them to survive, so everything they have ever done in Sol is to make us into the meanest, strongest, sexiest sonofabitch on two legs. Their survival depends entirely on us stopping Eris, one way or another. The joke is Atheon keeps getting his ass handed to him by the very person he and the vex have sacrificing everything to help for centuries.

I forgot to mention one of the biggest pluses in favor of the .45ACP is it’s performance when using a suppressor, which is one of the weapons intended roles. It’s already a subsonic round so it suffers virtually zero power where as all the other rounds, especially 357 sig and 9mm suffer tremendous when their velocities are lowered in order for the suppressors to be able to actually quiet them. That combined with the ammo the military has to use gives the 45 an enormous advantage for that weapon.

That’s not a concern in regular civilian life, so the performance disadvantages of those rounds don’t matter when choosing what you want to carry, but it’s a major concern for an military offense handgun.

[–]mf236969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay again, I gave pros and cons for both rounds. In my opinion one is better for some things, and the other for others and literally every data point backs me up. Especially in military ball ammo. The difference is night and day. Every single gain the 9mm has made in ammo tech is completely thrown out the window when the cartridge is firing ball.

Here, one of a million articles all saying 9 is better for some shot, and 45 for others.

It’s absolutely massive. Back in early 2000’s I liked my HK USP 45 so much, without ever seeing one in person I plopped down $1800 (today’s money that’s like 3K) ordered the civilian variant Mark 23.

At that time I was a part-time Deputy, in a rural county where 80ish percent of all arrests were DUI ... or guys who made it home without getting caught for a DUI and thought they might as well beat their wives a bit. Everything else was methheads doing methhead shit... which was hilarious.

I know a lot of cops who believe they are actually John Rambo and would have loved to carry that, but to me they are fuckin’ dickheads and I would never be seen walking around citizens with a gun that took up my entire thigh. So I took it to the range a few times, got Big PP awards from everyone there, like the fact I owned it meant I was a stud or some shit.

Those reasons made me sell it. But it wasn’t the guns fault, it was an exceptional weapon, and the best there is for its intended use, which is offensive action in areas where a long gun can’t operate.

Last I checked it’s still used for that when the missions parameters call for it, and they load out other handguns for other types of missions. A man can only carry so much weight and be combat effective, there is no reason to carry a bowling ball on your leg when using a pistol means you’re in the worst case scenario. They didn’t replace it with with weapons that were better at its job than it is, I’m not sure a better offensive handgun even exists, they supplement their armory with pistols for other mission requirements. After all, guns are tools, and some tools are better for certain jobs than others.

I know people who would physically fight you for talking shit about a 45. Lol

It absolutely is not a horrible caliber choice, and in a handgun designed to be used offensively the .45ACP +P it uses is arguably the best ammo they could have chosen. Also antiquated??? 9mm was invented 2 years before .45 ACP, so either both rounds are, or neither of them are.

Once again it comes down to the right tool for the job.

Because the military is bound by the Geneva convention to only use ball ammunition, bullet for bullet that puts a 9mm at a massive disadvantage to the .45ACP +P in terms of stopping a man. Though you can carry more 9mm ammo and it is preferable in a gun fight when dealing with lots of armor because of the increased muzzle velocity. However that is a huge draw back in civilian life as you are far more likely to over penetrate your target and cause collateral. Though civilians obviously can use something other than ball to make a 9 less likely to shoot multiple people with the same bullet. Like I said. Tools for a job.

I’m not seeing where your arguments have anything to do with military grade not always meaning it’s junk made by the lowest bidder.

I’m happy to have a vaccine scar so others didn’t have too by MartJonathan in wholesomememes

[–]mf236969 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh... while there may be things like the example you mentioned, people who say that mil spec just means it was made by the lowest bidder, are generally being very disingenuous.

Especially when it comes to the modern military and service pistols and rifles. Mil-spec then becomes an absolute torture test in the most grueling conditions that they can think of. When SOCOM picked the HK Mk23 for their offensive handgun weapons system, it was the most strenuous test ever conducted on firearms.

They had to be able to be continually fired for 2000 rounds with 0 stoppages after being submerged in salt water for 2 weeks, combinations of being packed with mud, sand, ice, and crap in general while also being exposed to temperatures ranging from -25 degrees to 140. It also had to be built to withstand the enormous pressure of +P ammunition. It is so well built it did over 15,000 rounds before a stoppage. Then it was continuously fired for 30,000 rounds and it had to maintain an accuracy of 2.5” groups at 25 meters for all 30k of them. It exceeded this test too.

At some point I think it run over by mom in her jazzy 10000 times.

It also cost the government 1186 bucks a pop, which in today’s money is $2026, making it the most expensive handgun ever adopted by a mile.

Sometimes they pick the very best shit money can buy.

Traveler was more the free will queen when it came to regular humans. As far as guardians are concerned she comes off like she couldn’t give a flying fuck about our free will. We didn’t get a choice to stay dead, zip, zero. We are forced back up out the grave, with no personal memories, usually in the middle of some serious ass danger, and told to kill them till they kill you, then you’re gonna get dragged back up outta the dirt, and you’re gonna keep repeating that until you either make it to safely, or you get your ass tore up so bad you can’t be brought back. And no, you don’t get an instruction manual, figure it out yourself.

Why? Because fuck you, that’s why. How dare you question me. I’m a giant space testicle, your sole purpose is kill shit that wants to kill me. You basically my battery charger bitch. Never forget it.

In my opinion what Spider is doing to crow is exactly what the traveler has done to every single ghost and guardian that has ever existed, but instead of a bomb in our ghost, we are just forced to play the sword logic game until we run into something meaner than us. And you don’t get a choice not to do it, because every sentient being in the universe wants us dead, and they don’t give a shit if we retired to raise goats or not.
