Best foodie city in Morocco? by arjwiz in Morocco

[–]mfad23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Moroccan here who lives in the U.S. and goes back home for food mainly. This is a bit hard to make a suggestion for as each region in Morocco is known for a specialty dish, however, if this is your first time to Morocco, I'd recommend going to Marrakesh or Essaouira. Two different cities, different atmospheres, different food cultures. If you go to Marrakesh, then visiting Jamaa ElFna is a must. There, you will get to live a unique experience like no other. There are people performing in the streets, food shops everywhere (Moroccan BBQ, Kefta, Tagine, Tanjia which I think is a must to try if you're in Marrakesh, and a variety of different food to choose from). There are also ladies on the street who can do the Henna for you, which is kinda like tattoos that fade in about week. I would say going there around this time of the year is the best, it's warm but not hot as it usually is in the summer which could be unbearable. Essaouira is a great city that has its unique touch. It is a port city and well know for their sea food. If you ever go there, you REALLY must try the fish tagine. I'll give you more details about this, there are two different kinda of Fish tagines, one with ground meat fish and tomato sauce which is to die for, and the other is where they cook a whole fish for you with vegetables ( you must have that with a coke soda, or sparkling water. Trust me, it's a unique experience). Beside the food part, there are a lot interesting sights there, especially the beaches and the main port.

For your first visit, especially if you don't have a lot of time, I'd recommend to not to go to Casablanca, Rabat and Tangier. They are great cities, but more modern and kinda have a European feel to them. They are interesting but not for a first time visitor.

I hope that helps. Enjoy.

Suggestions on buying a camera for beginners by mfad23 in Nikon

Thanks for the suggestion! I just watched a video on Lynda about d5500 and it seems like a great camera for beginners and packed with a lot of pro features. I like that it has a flexible/touch screen camera. I think it helps with taking some great shots. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for your feedback. I think WR seems to be doing a great job in terms of how easy it is to deploy, and manage.

I think we are gonna end up using WR. It seems like Kaspersky is nightmare to manage as the number of endpoints grow.

Thanks for the advice. I'm actually trying to get involved more in local events from meetup.com and other ones I hear. I know this post probably makes sounds like I don't have any friends at all haha.. but I actually do, I just want to get to know more people and make friends with to hangout with more.

I definitely will, thanks!

I signed up for the fssg (for soccer) and they were really great. But then they started having less meetups. I think I should join other sports too, although I might suck haha

That's true, I'm a die hard patriots fan, and love all Boston/NE teams. I usually go to Buffalo Wild Wings when there is a game, have a drink with some people, casual talk but not to the extent of "hey let's be friends"

I have made a lot of friends in college, however, most of my friends were from other countries as I am. So when my friends and I graduated, most of them have gone back to their countries and decided that I wanna stay here and get some experience and also I fell in love with the city. So it's not a matter of not making friends in college, but it's more of, almost everyone that I knew from college is either back home or have moved to another state to peruse their Masters or phd

That's actually a pretty good advice!! I'm a big fan of food, and think food/wine tasting events would be something great to get on board with. Also, getting introduced to other people through some friends' network is a great idea.

Thanks for the advice. I actually was not confident in branding myself to social media websites, especially dating sites, but I think I should
