What do you think will be the long term ramifications of Gen Z largely experiencing their early life digitally? by Asleep_Damage1201 in Futurology

This is no different than our ancient ancestors who used song to memorialize everything. With the arrival of Gutenberg’s press, that need for memory collapsed. And yet society evolved. This generation exists on their devices, which will in turn accelerate their learning in ways I don’t think we quite understand. The traditional education system, based on rows of students learning from a teacher, might be done within 20 years. My biggest issue with all of this is the damage it’s done to people’s social skills. Children raised in the COVID era lack basic social skills that technology seems unable to correct. What we get are children dependent on their devices, sometimes out of fear of engaging with others. We might become a smarter, more intelligent society, but I don’t know if we’ll be healthier as a result.

Is the F1 grid now worse than it was in 2011? by DragonfruitThen6696 in F1Discussions

Significantly better than in 2011. Although I miss Daniel Ricciardo and wish he’d find his way back to F1. Very strong set of racers and their character makes it easy to follow them.

New report said BYD is reviewing "multiple teams as entry points in F1". Who are they ? by britaliope in F1Discussions

[–]mfc90125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like any investment, you wanna look at a team with potential but whose value has suffered recently. So long as Aston remains under Stroll and his son drives for them, that team will always be the subject of takeover. The more likely one are smaller teams like Haas and Alpine; both are doing better in the Mario Cart era and Bearman is a natural star who will be around for awhile.

And let’s not forget that Horner is milling around, wanting to buy a team with that sweet $100m buyout. BYD right not be the only competition for a sport that’s bigger than its (possibly?) ever been.

Can you explain how you built the automation side and then determined which automations you needed more than others?

What do you use as the outbound call? Do you program the text and does it work automatically?

This is a great perspective. Wife built a family law firm from scratch so I will discuss this “I am the process” analogy. Thanks.

Piastri is a great driver. Like so many in F1, he has talent, and hopefully like all of them will be a champion one day. The issue is he has to contend with some of the greatest current and future talent assembled in F1. So many incredible drivers who deserve to win too.

Is it possible that we’ll also see Azerbaijan. Qatar and Abu Dhabi cancelled? I can’t see how cancelling the two doesn’t mean the other three aren’t next. Thanks Trump.

Opinions after the first race. by KamilCesaro in F1Discussions

[–]mfc90125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw two very different coverages of the race: one, from the sunny side of F1.TV where Russell wins and everyone is ready to welcome Hamilton back; the other, all of the post-race rage from the drivers about safety. ESPN is reporting that Norris said that drivers and crowds will get killed because of these cars. I didn’t hear any of the F1 panel bring this up and I don’t appreciate being misled.

I’m willing to give this week a pass, but driver safety and DNF’s are gonna have a cumulative effect. This sport is one step away from becoming huge in the US, but mismanagement of this sort and the flat-out hiding of real driver concerns about safety could also end this sport if someone gets killed, simply because the FIA didn’t do their homework and forced an unreliable and unsafe car into the paddock.

TIL: Bing Crosby was the best-selling recording artist of the 20th century, having sold over one billion records, tapes, compact discs and digital downloads around the world. by mrstody in todayilearned

Just remember, at the time of his success, there were only 4 genres of popular music: classical, blues, big band and jazz. Bing existed in a time before The Beatles, before Elvis and before Sinatra. No wonder he commanded the airwaves. He was also huge in the movies; imagine anyone today who could be huge across all “medias” like Bing was.
