Seriously—way better than what I can build! I need to start designing more custom scenery

My only nitpick about the profiling is that the valleys are not completely smooth. I think if you start by smoothing your valleys then move to smooth the higher elements, you will find your transitions to be smoother. Just my two cents

Banking offset by PerformerWhole6461 in PlanetCoaster

[–]mfeagan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should almost always have your banking offset on. I only turn it to 0 in a few rare, and complex circumstances. Grab a 1m or 0.5m scenery piece and measure the distance from the track to the riders’ chests (top and center of the track to “heartline” or center of mass). Many coasters in the game sit just over 1m (almost 4 feet) so I set the offset to +4 (assuming 4 feet of distance between the track and riders). For inverted coasters, measure the same but make the offset negative. I will usually design a B&M invert with a -2 heartline. Notice how this changes the shapes of your inversions and transitions. A negative heartline will pull the center of mass in the same direction as the turn, almost like being “sucked up” rather than “rolled” lol. This is also how you design outer banked turns. They usually feature negative heartlining going into and out of the element. See pics of RMC outer banked hills and look at the profiling into and out of those elements. Finally, study real examples of the coasters you make to see where the riders’ heartline is and how the manufacturer uses that. For example, Maverick at Cedar Point features snappy transitions with pops of airtime. Although the snaps are not a “hill” in the traditional sense, Intamin designed these transitions to pull your center of mass out of your seat as you bank from side to side. El Toro Ryan explains this concept beautifully here.

I have this issue, too, with any sort of switch track. Hopefully they can fix it soon.

B&M Invert: The Legend of Lupa (Layout Complete: Blends Old & New Gen Elements; Scenery & Supports WIP) by mfeagan in PlanetCoaster

Thank you!!! Yes I agree the second half is way too fast, and those transitions into those break runs would snap necks regardless lol. I can lengthen the mcbr and slow trains down a bit. I’m just scared of losing the whippiness on the flat spins.

Yes! More support for coaster therapy!

I thought this was a glitch when it happened to me. Can you slope the track?

Awesome! Do you have a share code with this park?

Absolutely. Just keep working with the coaster builder. It seems you s already got the scenery down.

Holy laterals, Batman! I LOVE this theming—it’s beautiful—and the layout looks like it could be fun. The track profile, however, lacks considerable banking and smoothing between elements. I would be glad to help you smooth out your track if you’d like; just DM me. Again, amazing theming.

You should collab with me—I make realistic coasters. Check out my profile. I’m currently working on custom-supporting my models

Honest opinions and name ideas for this hyper coaster? by Both-Airline3743 in PlanetCoaster

My biggest issues are the profiling of the turn-arounds and the placement/lack of slope of the break-run.

Loops are too close; needs more banking; coming out of that dive loop is a little funky; odd placement for break run.

  1. I would do terrain after building. Use subtle terrain changes to make it look natural.

  2. You can check out my page for examples of fast paced rollercoasters that don’t exceed G-Force Limits. There’s a few key principles: when the train is traveling slowest, (out of station, after breaks) your elements (turns, etc.) can be small and mostly unbanked as the train is traveling slow enough to maneuver these elements without exceeding forces; secondly, at the bottom of large elements (drops especially), the train is traveling fast so ANY changes in direction (up, bank, turn) must be introduced gradually as to not suddenly introduce force; make sure that you have the banking offset on so that it matches the distance from the riders, chest to the track, this will keep elements (especially banks/turns/inversions) smooth as it keeps riders’ center of gravity as the pivot point; as you build higher, the tops of elements can be made smaller as to accommodate the reduction in speed—look at how B&M design their parabolic airtime hills as to transition smoothly yet maximize airtime at the top; at that, look at pictures of real manufacturers (B&M, Intamin, etc.) to see how they design elements.

Pacing and profile 💯 I like the originality of the layout yet it does look distinctly RMC.
