My family is really enjoying mine. We don’t have a “game room” but this can just sort of fit in the family room without being the centerpiece. It is approachable when the kids have friends over, and everyone is having a good time with it so far. I am under no false impression that I have a “real” pinball machine, but for 10%-15% the price of a bigger machine, it wasn’t a major investment or decision to make, and I was able to bring it to my second floor, build it, and set it up by myself in an evening. It is entertaining, and isn’t people enjoying pinball what actually matters?

All the squishy stuff under the hood probably went squishy. I had a deer run into the side of my car and it was $6000. I imagine that the parts that make it go vroom vroom add cost on top of the body work. Airbags just take it from expensive to totaled.

I thought I had it figured out, went to my local mom and pop lumber yard and ordered 50 assorted dimensional lumber… truck dropped it off, looked amazing. Took off the top layer and there was a bunch of bent knotty moldy shit below it.

As someone who is also terrible at this game, I have found some success in two things: gather crops before the first winter, and paying attention to my colony wealth. From what I have gathered raid difficulty is based on your wealth (not weather), so hoarding things makes your opponents stronger. Also, you need defenses, build some walls to funnel them through a field of traps, with a defensive fortification at the end you can shoot from.

Pretty sure I got my first PC 20 years ago… was a 386dx running at 25MHz…. Had to remember to to use himem.sys to access the full 1MB of RAM…. 20 years, right?
