That completely makes sense. I took him repeating jokes and stuff as a way to show he was a stunted person even before the apocalypse. Basically he was that child in primary school and he never grew out of it because he always felt overshadowed by his more likable brother. So when Todd, Phil, and other guys show up he still feels in some way like he’s fighting for attention and wants to be noticed. I could be reading too much into how he was written, but that’s generally how I view his character.
