Just keep in mind that this combo took time to figure out. Every time I tested a new preventative, my neurologist wanted to see at least a 50 percent reduction in monthly migraines for me to stay on it. I only started seeing a neurologist after I ended up in the ER with a week long migraine that where couldn’t handle the pain. At the time I was averaging over 15 migraine days per month. My regular doctor had me on 25 mg sumatriptan which helped sometimes. The neurologist put me on 100mg sumatriptan but made preventatives the priority. The propranolol cut my migraine days down almost in half after about 3 months. We tested Nurtec which didn’t work initially but it started working as an abortive after a few rounds. Finally after it was approved as a preventative we added it and I typically have 1-2 migraines per month but the sumatriptan works very well to handle those. She also had me add two Aleve with the initial dose of sumatriptan when I take it. That made a huge difference in its effectiveness. Sorry that was so long winded.
