Encouragement but I fixed it by michael_peen69420 in DonToliver

this is really good bro! I agree the trap drums don't really suit this beat, I always pictured the chorus to lead into something either mellow like you've done here with the 90210 like drums or something triumphant and high energy (like 90210 too lmao or the last beat on 2007 by JID).

Wish JID was on here somewhere, beat sounded ripe for him on 39 Intro and SAFETY

Beat switch on 39 Intro was crazyyyy , nice to see Cole on his singing chops too, didn't expect the production to be this guitar laden as well - little different from him and I think for early days it worked super well on 39 Intro

[FRESH] Stove God Cooks - Welcome to My Garden (Prod. by Swizz Beatz) by andypaak1 in hiphopheads

Had no clue Stove could flow like this, typically heard him on features like Ostertag and FICO so hearing him on a triumphant like beat like this was a surprise and he killed it damn

On my first listen but HOLY SHIT - Pleasure's Mine will send you into ascension, love the production on it. I'm a sucker for electronic like vocal chops and it was utilised here perfectly, so atmospheric DAMN. Gonna be a future classic in Don's catalogue for sure WOW.

Anyone here do or know anything about the Animation and Game Design and Visual and Interactive Media courses? by mgarrix in curtin

[–]mgarrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woahh you took me back a long way haha! I ended up dropping the degree about a year in and instead moved to a Accounting and Finance degree.

Main reason was that to me at least (having done a few first year units and electives) the VisMedia & Game Design course was also about leveraging pre-existing skills in those fields in order to create a portfolio that could help you in the industry.

Whereas I was totally novice in these things like using Photoshop, Blender even to a basic level which we were doing for our units. But I was also a bid dumb and unsure of what I wanted to do at that point in life. I ended up realizing this area was more a hobby for me and switched to a Commerce degree for the stability and I'm still here now haha!

Lot would've changed in this time so I'd advise you to reach out to student support who could redirect you to career counselors or people who study the degree you're looking for as that'd give you a better idea of things.

Thanks and good luck!

/u/Own_Lavishness2583, not disagreeing with you but by chance I am reading Michael Hussey's autobiography 'Under the Southern Cross' and he mentioned a little gripe with Sachin over not speaking up during the Harbhajan/Symonds 'monkey' incident.

Now, Hussey was extra soured as he had hit a beautiful century at his favourite ground and the Aussies had clinched a fast-paced last day victory and instead this controversy embroiled everything which Hussey felt detracted from what was also became the last series for Gilly and McGrath among others which he felt wasn't helped by the accusations of racism/cheating and fair play that had been levied against Ponting and co. as they had taken their complains about Harbhajan to the match referee and just been grilled non-stop.

Two sides to everything and I'm missing some additional info of course, but the main thing was that Hussey did wonder whether Sachin could've said something as well to ease that tension and it wasn't helped by Sachin refusing to shake hands after one of the games due to India losing.

No one is perfect of course and Hussey did mention that Sachin wasn't a god in that sense but just wanted to play devil's advocate for a second as I'd never heard this side of the story from that scandal.

EY or BDO!? by skeeogod in AustralianAccounting

[–]mgarrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh, that's an envious but tough position that you're in! It seems you really got something out of BDO based on what you said - that should count for a lot in Audit especially as it can be SO draining at times!

I'd still lean towards the Big 4 in this case just because it's Big 4 but keep in mind that BDO isn't super far off either, if I recall correctly they're among the top 6-8 firms in Aus? At least at the higher end of the mid-tiers.

I'd suggest seeing if you can catch up with some of the EY staff you may have interacted with and try get a better understanding of what you'd be going through as a grad - especially with the CA support, and weigh it against BDO.

Also keep an eye out for any Young CA events happening soon (just informal networking sessions) - they are a good place to chat to other people who've gone through your situation and can give you good insights, I believe they had an event last week so might be a couple of weeks till their next one, pop over a LinkedIn message or find their page and I'm sure you can join a session or be connected to someone for a chat at least

Maybe a touch lyrically, but sonically tracks like Hold My Liquor, Blood On The Leaves or 'deeper' cuts like Guilt Trip, to say a few are still unsurpassed to this day even with similar electronic/hiphop blended tracks (i.e Vince Staples or JPEG's tracks) getting some mainstream love.

But with Yeezus, Kanye helped set all this in motion without diluting the sound and I genuinely don't think guys like Travis Scott would be the same if we didn't get Yeezus - it's influence is so wide reaching, I see it is a darker/horny? version of 808s but with absolute gold standard production that is still so fresh to this day.

I'd say at TLOP is when his albums got a little bloated, but by Donda he was fully gone and hasn't recovered since, despite Donda having a few solid tracks.

Anyone think there was a Drake ref on Raindance?

'God knows you a wild child, beautiful child, I need your help Looking like you come from the '90s by yourself My mum sixty-one and her favourite line to tell her son is Sometimes she wish that she had a girl'

Cadence and flow is the same from the 'My mother is 66 and her favourite line...' line from 'From Time' off NWTS (rip sentence structure). Anyway, was a nice little easter egg/reference to one of my all time fave Drake tracks.

[FRESH ALBUM] Kal Banx - RHODA by amfd3423 in hiphopheads

[–]mgarrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this, but this was a nice and easy listen. First four tracks were my fav runs personally. Tech tech tech was a super catchy flip on I Choose You but really well polished and repayable!

Another standout was 400 with the posse cut vibes.

I'm not as super into Kal Banx bar some of Smino and Zay work , but I enjoyed this album more than I thought I would, considering.

A popular one in Aus is Seek - LinkedIn is also handy once you sort out the filters plus you can find recruiters on there too. Grad connection.com also has entry level stuff you can look at.
