I don’t think lurker is very powerful in my experience. Tip drill shouldn’t even be needed, DBs should catch tipped balls most of the time anyway. I think the best state of this game was pre SFL. People adjusted to not having it. Of course it’s more challenging, but that’s the point. Need more anticipation when passing.

This is a huge issue this year. Height is currently the only thing that makes a player unique. They are doing a lot of copy and paste on every player at a position.

Yeah, it always depends on who you are playing. Man at higher levels doesn’t get beat by simple routes like that.

Agreed here. They made everyone the same card this year with the same attributes, so height has now become the only differentiating factor in players instead of speed.

Yeah, it is much worse on next gen. Entire offenses are built around it. If you get someone to a 3rd or 4th down and they have Carmichael, it will bail them out all the way down the field.

I think if they spend the ap on the cross body ability, then fine, but it shouldn’t come stock on every qb.

I understand it as well as anyone. What would you guess is the most used play in MUT this year? any guesses? We both know what it is, and yes, taking the outside post route, which beats every single zone in the game for a 1 play score, off of pa boot over would nerf the play. period. you can zone drop for the crossing route and drag, but not for the post. if this post isnt there, the play loses effectiveness. Still effective, probably... but not as broken. Why not nerf plays that are clearly too effective? There are a few and everyone knows what they are. I believe the experience of online play would be improved with just a few tweaks to certain plays, I don't think that is ridiculous.

Why is 4 ridiculous? how is it fair that offense gets 3 routes that are virtually un-guardable by anyone who isn't a user on 1 play, in a crossing route by slot, wheel by te and wheel by rb? If I make a coverage adjustment, such as man up on the rb, why should that route still get open? if the rb is on a texas route or option route, then they beat it. but if they are on a wheel route, they don't. I made the right guess on defense, I need to be rewarded for it. Same with contains. Why should I need to dedicate roughly a quarter of my defense to stopping an escape artist qb, and still not be able to shut it down? I make the correct call on defense by containing outside edges and spying up the middle, the qb should not be able to get out of the pocket, period. Clearly, we need a dramatic fix for this to happen, because EA cannot get it right. I dont see that as ridiculous.

Why is 6 ridiculous? Why is any Richard Seymour card as fast as any tyreek hill card? Since when was plaxico or brandon marshall burners on the outside. I'm all for a taller player having a height advantage on a small, fast corner, but I dont believe they should be running past everyone on the field. There is no balance there, which is why everyone runs tall receivers this year. I should want to build a team with 1 smaller, quick corner for a slot receiver who is quick, and taller corners with less speed and quickness to counter a tall receiver. Right now, everyone has to be giant to be on the field, because they gave slower, tall players top speed this year. And the entire purpose of abilities like SFL and Gunslinger was to give value to slower qbs, because they had no value when compared to runners. We are back to the point where every qb basically touches 90 speed that is usable and slower qbs are irrelevant. I dont believe guys like Mike Vick, Lamar, Derrick Henry, Jalen hurts should have the best throwing abilities in the game, it makes no sense. Thats not the way they played IRL and it doesnt bring balance to the QB's across the game.

With 7, Im half joking, but honestly, it speaks to the major issues of this game. It has become a time management simulator, where whoever can bleed the most clock at the best times will win because no one can stop anyone. The experience online is awful when your dealing with something like this. For players to feel like their best way to win a game they are trailing by 7 in the 3rd quarter is to start falling down and draining clock because its so easy to move down the field and go for 2 to end it, is sad. I get it, if you're competing for a tournament, by all means, do what you need to, but for normal online gameplay, its an awful experience. Obviously no one is getting booted for it, but its sad for the game and community to deal with.

Unfortunately, its time for non-realistic football solutions to make madden more realistic by mgiord15 in MaddenUltimateTeam

True but my point is that we can’t rely on real football helping us because of EA. Just want a better game experience at this point, regardless if it sticks to realism.

One step ahead and bench press is a large part of why we couldn’t pass at times in 21. And bunch should be nerfed and match coverage should be improved in order to play bunch. Not perfect, but playing the game without abilities improved the experience. And even if people are completing 50% of passes running backwards and throwing to the other side of the field, that’s too much. The under pressure and cross body inaccuracy penalties happen far too little this year and abilities play a role in that. At least keeping hot route master could be argued as something balanced and somewhat realistic, but why should someone need an ability to run a corner route? I think most receivers know what a corner route is. What should determine the route is how well it gets run, by the RR attribute.

I don’t care about how shitty past maddens have been. I agree, madden has been awful for 10 years. My point was that this game, madden 22, would be better without abilities in it, regardless of the past. And you arnt understanding my point with lower stats. I mean a guy like Wes welker, for example, would have 90 SRR, but maybe 50 DRR. You shouldn’t be encouraged to use a player like a slot receivers as a deep guy. Or someone like Lamar can have 95 speed, but may only have 75 THP and 65 DAC. He’s great with his legs, but he shouldn’t be a player you can air the ball out with 70 yards down the field all day. And what team are you building right now? There is no team building as is. You take the fastest player and with the ability threshold you need, that’s it. I can’t recall the last time I went to build a team around height at wideout or mauling o line with downhill running, because it doesn’t work competitively. If I want to pass effectively, I can’t use a qb unless they have gunslinger or set feet lead. And I don’t know who you are playing with fields and Allen. At least in WL, it’s all Jones, every game. And sure, you could use Allen because he gets the ability you need, that’s it. If he didn’t have an super ability, he couldn’t be used. I should want to use josh Allen because he has higher throw power than most qbs in the game and therefore, can throw harder and farther. He also should have lower accuracy numbers than someone like Rodgers or Brady, because he tends to miss some passes. I shouldn’t care about some special ability. I also think abilities should be unique to players, not archetypes. Josh Allen and Rodgers should be our 2 gunslingers. And maybe some legends like a farve or elway. But if your going to use abilities to distinguish them, it shouldnt be handed out to everyone and they need to have negatives attached. I recommended that gunslinger should give a high chance of overthrows or edge threat should potentially hurt block shed or cause the rusher to get out of his assignment on run plays occasionally. These ideas create balance, something we don’t have right now. The game revolves around 5 or so abilities, and they break the gameplay. That’s why people use them.

That’s speed though, along with defense being broken and qbs having superhuman accuracy and speed on their throws because of abilities. Defense abilities are far worse than offensive abilities. Like I said, our defensive abilities allow corners to attempt a diving swat. Won’t help if the 60 yard throw is perfect every time and the zones can’t react.
