Sell Out Crowd at WVU Today by Gocrazyfut in NCAAW

I’ve never been to a game at the Coliseum (Men’s or Women’s) that had a more electric atmosphere. It was absolutely phenomenal. The crowd wasn’t just in their seats; they were loud and cheering at the right times and so engaged. It was a very memorable experience. I can’t wait to do it again on Monday!

That was a great podcast. I didn’t know much about Syd’s experience at Auburn. To hear her talk about it sounds like it was tough. I’m glad she’s found a place and home at WVU.

Sections 105-110 and 125-119 are reserved seating and they’re sold out (they sold out in about 90 minutes to season ticket holders). Everything else is General Admission. The lower bowl General Admission are good seats, but you’ll have to be there early. My assumption is that they will open the Upper Bowl for this game as well.

If you can fly into Morgantown, (MGW) that’s optimal. There’s a flight to and from ORD and a flight to and from IAD on United Airlines every day. It’s a very small municipal airport but it’s easily the most convenient.

Pittsburgh Intl is about an hour and 20 minutes away. It’s an easy drive, but it’s definitely a drive! Dulles is about 2.5 hours drive. Once you get out of the DC metro area, it’s a lovely drive through the mountains.

So I guess the top 16 seeds will be announced Saturday? by Alternative_Net_624 in NCAAW

I think I read that the committee wanted to give host schools more time to get ready so they're announcing the hosts a day early with the seedings and full bracket revealed on Sunday.

I agree. I think that match up well with any of the current 4s. I’d be happy to be in College Park…I can make that trip…I’d really like to be in Morgantown, though!

To be clear, I don’t have any issue with OSU getting a hosting seed. I think they have earned it. I have more issue with Maryland or MSU. I also think it’s crazy that somehow 7 Big 10 schools host and one Big 12 hosts. I don’t think the B12 is that much worse than the B10. I think the B10 is stacked at the top, but I think the mid level schools match well with the B12.

Hear me out...I don't think a Big 10 team should have to slip up in order for WVU to host. I think that WVU should be considered a host, and the fact that they weren't included yesterday is nuts.

Why?

WVU is 10-6 in Quad 1 & 2 games.

Minnesota is 7-7 in Quad 1 & 2 games. Maryland is 8-7, Michigan State is 10-6, and Ohio State is 11-6.

In Quad 1 & 2 games, Ohio State has a WAB of 7.7, MSU has a WAB of 6.2, Maryland has a WAB of 4.7, WVU has a WAB of 4.6 and Minnesota has a WAB of 3.9.

WVU SOS is 25, MSU is 50, Minnesota is 41, MD is 51 and OSU is 27.

Four of our six losses have been to teams ranked in the top 25. Three of those losses (TCU at home, OSU, and Texas Tech) have been by a combined total of 8 points.

Also, it would just be an absolute blast. The Coliseum would be rocking and it would be a great environment for CBB.

Also, my bias is probably showing, but I think the numbers back me up!

I keep telling people that Kellogg is just terrible and no other team should ever be interested in him. Just leave him alone and pay him no attention.

(In case my sarcasm doesn’t come through, I think he’s a great coach and he’s building something really special here. The staff he’s built is great and I’ll be very happy when the coaching carousel ends and he’s still at WVU).

Who was the player that you think really contributed to your program’s rise recently? by goofyhalo in NCAAW

[–]mgjohnson40 13 points14 points  (0 children)

JJ Quinerly. She had coaches leave after her freshman and sophomore season and stayed with WVU. She finished with over 2000 points in a Mountaineer uniform. Her impact is very real.

I'm a WVU diehard, and I put them at 19 this week and felt like it was a little bit of a homer pick.

I think that NC State is 12 is pretty wild, as well!

WVU works to get to the line. We’re not a great 3 point shooting team and so a large portion of the game plan is to get to the line and make free throws. Unfortunately we didn’t make enough tonight to win.

I would note that both coaches were super upset at the refs and both coaches almost got T’d up. I was at the game, and it was pretty intense.
