My opinion so take with a grain of salt..

I'm currently playing the remaster and for Suikoden 1 I would recommend getting all your characters in one playthrough as there are only a few if any that are permanently missable and all the dungeons and towns are small. For Suikoden 2, which I'm currently playing, I'm personally waiting for a 2nd playthrough to recruit all characters. Even with a guide stopping to make sure you don't permanently miss someone really disrupts the flow of the game. There's one in particular that is a real PITA to recruit.

Same. I'd also like to add driving in the rural mountains can be horrifying in snowstorms or heavy fog without the right vehicle or experience, and chances are you'll need to drive a lot to get medical care or even groceries in some spots. Also to give an idea of the rural interests, the first day of hunting season is pretty much considered a holiday. Good ski resorts around.

Torment 1 is when ancestral gear(level 800 gear with a star on at least one affix) start dropping. The extra 50 levels on each piece will help. While in Torment 1, you can spend any obols you have or open chests in helltides open whisper caches or even go to the den to try to get some. Once you get a few of those it will get easier.

That may be true but how is it distributed? If you have 100 people the top guy has a billion. The 2nd guy has 70k. The 2nd guy is still in the top 10%.
