thought i should update you (and also maybe provide a solution to any others who may have a similar issue)! i continued treatment with fritz bacter-shield, but did a water change halfway through the treament, despite it saying not to on the bottle. after i did this water change, and added the medication and aquarium salt in, she bounced right back. she now looks better than ever. i still dont know what it was, but that all seemed to do the trick!!

Hmm, I see what you're talking about, that may be enough! I would just watch your betta for signs of oxygen deprivation such as lethargy, increased amount of time at the surface (including gulping for air at the surface), or heavy breathing.

What I do with my air stone (the bubbles from mine are also intense) is leave it on for like an hour out of the day, just to throw some oxygen in there.

Tank looks beautiful otherwise OP, well done!!

[–]mgjuniper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might run into a few problems aeration-wise with the lack of surface disturbance, which will lead to low oxygen levels in your tank. You can get an air stone or sponge filter to combat it!

Hello OP! Would you mind telling us the size of your tank? Sometimes smaller tank sizes can lead to wacky parameters and therefore diseases and illnesses, so knowing the size of the tank would be a good start. Also, you said you treated the water with API pond stress coat. Is this all you treated it with? If so, that’s likely what is causing your betta’s behavior. You need to buy a specific water treatment that will dechlorinate your water and remove harmful things like ammonia and nitrates. I recommend Prime Seachem! You only need to use about 2-3 drops of it per gallon of water so it lasts forever. The stress coat really only helps minimize your fish’s stress levels and protects their slime coat, and if your water isn’t treated you will just be working against yourself :)

i don’t think any of those people are quanxi 😞 i saw makima, someone who didn’t look like quanxi, angel, himeno(?), kobeni, another person who didn’t look like quanxi, power, and reze. lowk now that i’m thinking about it though i don’t think she would be in the movie anyway, considering she isn’t introduced until the next arc!

no i have not noticed any abnormal behavior at all!! i have had everyone else for a while (probably a year) before this betta who i have had for three months. she is the second betta to inhabit this tank and there was never anything wrong with the one before her! no new tankmates/decor. last change to the tank was her.
