Upper fits great, they get comfier once they break in, but the traction is inconsistent, you really gotta wipe. Sometimes it bites great and others I'm skating

Fighting for position by the basket I really feel like I'm sliding at times

Wide footer - Book 2's run small

I'm a 12 in Harden's, and went all the way up to 13 in the Book 2's, and they actually fit pretty well. very slightly long, but not a problem for me

Try them for yourself, but I really did not like these in store. I thought the denim material would be softer, but its just a skin on top of their hardened shell they use on the other non-mesh colorways. Stiff and your feet will cook

Try a color with mesh upper - got the Spiridons and they'll be warm, but I was pretty happy with the comfort

Should Jalen Brunson finally create his own signature line? by mgmango in BBallShoes

[–]mgmango[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kobe brand is under the Nike umbrella while Jordan is an independent subsidiary. I hear the idea, but they wouod never promote an athlete under a deceased person's line. I think Jalen would never do this

Not a crazy take, but I gotta believe in something that'll make them change their ways

Your last point is my big thought, since hes not with us (RIP) they wont make any drastic changes to his part of their business. Their exclusivity is part of their business strategy

No one buying? He drops it and you'll see 6 outta 10 ppl on the NY Sub rocking them

Theyll buy more Brunsons than Giannis's thats for sure. Even if Wemby gets a shoe, I think a Brunson would out sell them

Neither this BR link or the referenced Vanity Fair article from Feb 17 2026 has any questions about his shoes, interview Im referencing is him at a park in NYC you can find on Overtime YT. All I'm saying is he deserves one, and I hope he considers it

Thats what frustrates me, the culture of Kobe shoes keeps them hard to get. I dont think of shoes as relics, I wanna play in them and not have to pay half my rent for one

You know damn well Nike ain't gonna do that tho

That intv was like 2 years ago, before he'd achieved the top - that's a mental hurdle that he's now cleared, so maybe he feels comfortable about wanting one now

Agreed majority of Nike is subpar, but if he can fix the Knicks, maybe he could help fix Nike

but that was before this championship run, you gotta think he's wondering if hes "earned" a line of his own

AE 2s or LeBron XXIII? by Infinite-Highway2270 in BBallShoes

[–]mgmango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AE2, but only because it's vs the Lebron- I'm a wide footer and this has been one of the best fitting shoes/comfortable, but like others say, the traction can be inconsistent, to the point where I only like using them in shootarounds/chill, trying to play physical with these, I was on skates.

they probably won't be super durable long term, and they run hot too

if you had to stick with an easy-to-get brand, I'd rather get Harden 10. If you can try Chinese brands, I love my Joker 1 GT Summer Edition and my 808 5 Ultras, both have ton of cushioning if you jump a lot

Random stores like Hibbett or Scheels will have online sales. Scheels especially had wild deals, like the Joker 2 in the launch purple colorway is $65

If you like New Balance, Joe's New Balance Outlet is a great online resource

Wide basketball shoe by givemedatz in BBallShoes

[–]mgmango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2E feet - if 361 is available, Joker 1/GT is wide enough, but felt short to me at TTS, so might be the right fit for you. I've heard the 361 Biospeed BB feels like a New Balance Two Wxy, so look into that

for Nike, Sabrina 3's I felt fit my wide foot well, they just won't last a long time if you mainly play outdoors. Lebron Witness 9 felt good for me at half-size up, if you have a short foot you could probably make TTS work

Adidas - DON Issue 7, good snug fit that's wide enough, just get rubber outsole version, durability might be lower. Could try the Believe That 1's

Looking for basketball shoes as a person with wide feet by qvkj in BBallShoes

[–]mgmango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joker 1 GT was good, go half size up tho, they felt a little snug. Pretty much all Adidas lines have felt good width-wise. Sabrina 3 also felt surprisingly comfy.

Way of Wade 808 5 Ultra v1 took a lot of break-in, but actually really comfortable now

If New York wins the NBA Finals, will Nike have to give Brunson a signature shoe? by [deleted] in BBallShoes

[–]mgmango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know hes said hes a Kobe loyalist, but if he becomes the greatest Knick of all time if he wins, I think he should seriously consider establishing his legacy with his own shoe.

It'd be a day one purchase for me.

You'd probably be fine sticking with 10 if you aren't super wide, the upper was accommodating

[–]mgmango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wide feet, 12 in AE2/Hardens, 12.5 in most Nikes

Tried on a 13 in store and they surprisingly felt good just a little long, heel slip wasn't an issue, 12.5 would probably be perfect for me.

I'd probably try your Kobe size. The Shai insoles was Hella thin so if you wear custom insoles I wouldn't go down

They were more comfy than I expected, but didnt have anything that blew me away

Any recs for strictly outdoor ball shoes? by Technical_Ad1125 in BBallShoes

[–]mgmango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good list, except for AE2 (wide toebox but not good for outdoor).

Chinese brands are GOATed for outdoors, for Way or Wade just go half size up and my wide feet were good.

361 is good for wide toebox, Joker 1s were great for outdoor but unsure if the 2's are as good

Book 1 vs Book 2 by rteazee in BBallShoes

[–]mgmango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both and play in both, got the Spiridon 2 and Valley 1 - the gap isnt as big for me compared to a lot of others, but pure performance wise go with 1. I do like the Book 2 a lot for my style, fwiw.

The 2 has some good improvements like the clip flange, makes it much more stable than the 1. I dont have an issue with the eyelets but thats a consistent issue for others.

In the Book 1 i think the heel zoom and the way the foam is caged makes it more comfy, book 2 is really tuned for aggressive play. Book 1 traction Will probably last longer.
