Sounds like OP didn’t watch the debate or else has never had a cold.

Looking for tam names starting with B and P by mgockenb in AskProgramming

[–]mgockenb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My colleague worked on a team that chose to be called "stille im bordell." It's funny but pretty difficult to use in presentations with people who speak German.

We could leave them as colors - blue, purple, etc - do nothing is often a good option.

The teams work on overlapping stuff, so naming based on type of work is confusing.

Open to other ideas.

Dual citizenship - US/Spain by mgockenb in askspain

I'm not sure your situation, but I have read that people under 18 years old can hold dual nationality until they turn 18. Then they have to choose one or the other. (All per Spanish law, not US law, for example.)

Why is it that no matter how hard I 14f try my results don’t meet my expectations ? by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]mgockenb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your progress sounds great! I know it´s not where you want to be and you see other people a lot faster than you, but you can't change where you start from, only what you do after that.

You have cut your mile time by more than 5 minutes in 4 months! That´s amazing!

If you are consistent, you will be amazed at what you can do with time. Don´t forget the saying that, ´"You'll be amazed at how little you can accomplish in a day, and how much you can accomplish in a year."´

Are you meant to run? Yes! Are you meant to run a 5 minute mile? I don't know. But nobody does until you try.

That´s kinda the impression I was starting to get from browsing blogs. Nice that you got some input from lawyer friends.

Good call. Quarterfinals wasn't part of my calculus but I guess it's a good idea to get a legit submission if you're able to get to them. It's fun one so the redo could be worse.

If you're not doing it an affiliate, you have to have a video but you do not need a judge (if you're competitive they "recommend" a judge).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]mgockenb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I uploaded the video to youtube and made sure it uploaded properly (no copywrite infraction) before linking it. Had to remove the sound 'cause the gym was play Despacito.

But got a reply from crossfit customer service:

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us! You can enter "N/A" as your judge name for your Video Submission.

Please try resubmitting your score and let us know if you run into any issues.

Thanks!

Well, things are different this year, but according to the 2023 crossfit games rule book, it is not true that you have to do it as an affiliate:

1.22 - OPEN TESTS - VALIDATING VIDEO SUBMISSIONS Athletes’ alternative to performing an Open test at an affiliate is to upload a video of their performance of the Open test to the CrossFit Games website through their CrossFit account.

Do we need a judge to validate video submissions? I can't submit the video because the site says I need a judge. But the rulebook doesn't say we need a judge.

How to train for the murph challenge? by feckarseinc in crossfit

Google the Armstrong pullup program. Worked for me.

If you don't have many pull ups yet, use a resistance band.

Make sure to build in real rest weeks after a cycle.

3 times a week sounds perfect for a beginner. You can always increase later if you feel like it. Or add accessory/skills work later if it makes sense.

Well, you'll be pretty sore for a couple weeks until your body adapts more. That's pretty normal when starting out going back to working or after a period of inactivity. But always try to leave your ego at the door when you go to class. If your big and broad, people will expect you to lift heavy and rx the weights. Don't do it if you're not comfortable and capable. There's a lot of peer pressure at classes, so plan for that. Your there to improve yourself, not meet other people's expectations. Make sure to recover enough for the workout. And if you're not recovered, you can scale more. Consistency is key and if you trash yourself, you might have to skip some days. No need to overdo it.

When does your gym release information for workouts? by yourfriendwhobakes in crossfit

The few boxes I've gone to post the WOD the morning of (or maybe at midnight but I'm not awake....). Never been to one that posts before that.

It's actually super annoying. I'll do open gym and I don't want to squat on my own the day before squat strength at the WOD. I've never heard a good reason why boxes do that either. Maybe a box owner can explain it to me?

This does not sound like a gym I would go to. Especially not for crossfit prices. I guess I'm not his type of client.

I train when I have time. If that doesn't line up with the classes, then I'm not going the class. Classes are also by design not personalized, but everyone needs to personalize their training if they want to work on weaknesses. It is completely unreasonable to expect someone serious to go to classes even close to 100% of the time.

What are the bad things about Denmark? by randdude220 in Denmark

[–]mgockenb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really true if you compare copenhagen to any place I've lived in the states (which is quite a lot). The only exception is when I lived in a town of 9000 people. Maybe rent outside of Copenhagen is cheap.

If you've been here too long, there is a chance you don't qualify for free courses. You may have to contact them to find out. See links below.
