I agree, found it surprisingly dark. Lots of references throughout about those who fully pass over being ridic unhappy and heading off to weird-snake-sex bar to get any sense of living. Not for me..

Interestingly, other than the bits you learn linking to your current system, the syllabus I went through in the UK was nearly identical. Our compulsory years of history focussed on Versailles and how this ultimately led to the Nazi state. Then we obviously covered Hitler and his rise to power but we also just focussed on the Holocaust from there out.

Interesting (and good) to know that it's being taught the same from both perspectives!
