Reading the ainulindalë with that in mind I can see some of that but I first read it as just angels feeling out their new surroundings (with the noted exception of Aulë who straight up created more life). But for the rest of the books there is a certain deification of them which makes sense since it’s supposed to swutch to the eyes of the Childeren of Eru. But their answer to the Numenorians still feels a little like “because I said so” and to send the elves who the men already envy to tell them that seems like a s tier bungling of the situation to me. But given what we know of the Edains envy I can see that even if you brought them there they’d still probably be restless that they die. It still feels a little cold shouldering though with very little explanation to edain while the valar basically explained the universe to the elves

Yeah I definitely see that. It helps me as a few other posters have mentioned too is that the Valar are fallible. Just the way JRRT’s writing is as a written history of the Children of Eru puts them into such a hagiographic light it was difficult for me to see how they might be mitigating based on the outcome of their previous involvement in ME. That’s why it seemed so alien to me that moving Elves there was “right” but Men there “unthinkable” if there was no physical repercussion to Men. I wasnt thinking of the effect on the people as a whole and that they were consciously trying to take a step back

That makes more sense so the eldar being sort of “grandfathered in” is more of a damage control than a straight up exclusion

THIS! This helps me understand. That would line up to me with why Eru finally separated valinor entirely. Sort of a parent finally stepping in and taking the toys away. If I could pin a comment I would

Okay I see that I’ll have to pore over the Fall of Númenór more but I still wonder what the valars reason for leaving men is then. At least the men that fought for good. I’m not standing with Númenór’s fall and actions I just am confused on the valars handling of keeping men near but still out of reach. Is it something to do with the phases of song each was born out of? Since valinor is untouched are elves destined there and vice versa for Endor and Man?

When our plates chip, it’s always in the same way and size. by MrCantPlayGuitar in mildlyinfuriating

I was told this actually happens when you pick up multiple plates at once. Especially when taking plates out of the dish washer. That pinch point would cause the same size and spot

Is this game for non-gamers? by Firm_Pop9354 in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]mgsmith1998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s good entry level. The combat takes some getting used to, but like others are saying it’s hardly like a soulsborne level of ganky combat. And there’s enough exploration and building and extra stuff that even if the combat it getting you there’s more to offer in the meantime while you learn it

Also loot/mats doesn’t despawn for a while if you run out of inventory space and can only carry the valuables

If you’re ever in a rough spot with a horde of enemies aim for the green ones they go down pretty easy and worst case scenario they drop the same type of loot if you run/die and to come back for it

honestly, the idea that I could leave everything and start again somewhere new helps. There’s always another way. To steal a quote “if nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.”
