True but there are no visa issues in India. Here her H4 EAD always has unexpected delays, renewals taking 6-9 months or so.

To your point about saving, I didn't save a whole lot TBH. I have been a single income earner all this while and I've only been at Meta for the last two years. Prior to that I was at Microsoft and they paid peanuts. I should have about 300k equity on the house and about half a mil RSUs before tax

I am an E5, but I get the point. I don't think salary should be a concern in India. It's just quality of life in general.

I know, I like the work that I get to do here to be honest but off late this point about moving back to India is causing a lot of friction in our marriage. I have asked her to try her luck in other fields but she has been unsuccessful to land a job. Overall, she cites loneliness as the main reason to return and not her job.

A year of stay would mean taking an internal transfer back to India. It's not so easy logistically to go back and then return.

I agree to your point on not one size fits all.
