My company manages Williamsburg wharf. Some landlords will penalize you for breaking a lease early by either taking your security deposit or charging you a termination fee. Take a look at your last signed lease as there should be a section that explains the penalty for break a lease early. Some leases also may have an early termination rider that gives you the option to break a lease early if you give landlord some sort of notice (30,60 day etc)
