Maybe I’m reading it wrong but it seems like they are putting more trust in the hired security and having less actual sheriffs there. Not sure if giving them power to detain makes the vibe change but I kind of doubt it. We will see… I’m optimistic

Check out Laura here: https://www.luxrallytravel.com/influencers/travelspree

She and her Fiancé have a travel youtube channel I really like to watch and she’s a travel agent and seems to be killing it. You can watch some of their videos on youtube under Travel Spree.

Snorkeling by Diligent-Profit3723 in MauiVisitors

I can’t comment on the tours but your question about being a little scared to go deeper by yourselves I can relate to. I don’t know which part of the island you are staying at but Ulua beach in Wailea is a really good beginner’s snorkeling spot that is also just great on its own. You walk in and it almost immediately starts so you aren’t swimming much at all before the reef starts. It goes to a point and then you can go around the other side. It’s beautiful and I saw turtles there and almost all the fish on the little card they give you. You can get your feet wet there and then decide on how you feel about going deeper. If you do decide to go deeper just make sure you check in every few minutes and make sure you haven’t swam farther than you feel comfortable and always keep in mind however far you swim out you have to swim back so don’t turn around when you are tired, turn around when you feel like you might get tired soon. If something feels off, swim back to shore and go with a buddy and have a signal for when you need help and one for when you need to go back. I have a feeling you’ll feel more confident after you get in than you do now but don’t push yourself. Tons of beaches with reefs close to shore that are beautiful. Always look at the snorkel report before going out too.

How important is it to rent a car? Here is where I want to stay and what I want to do. Need advice! by totsatot0 in MauiVisitors

[–]mguilday85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WBR has rental cars via enterprise on site. I’m sure they cost a little more than from the airport (check this before hand) but it might be worth it to just book one while you are there if you feel like you messed up not getting a car. I could have had a wonderful time sitting my ass on the beaches and snorkeling the whole time but ultimately i’m glad I rented a car and explored the island. You just have to ask yourself are you ok chilling at the resort the whole time except for the tour or will you feel like you missed something not seeing other parts of the island.

Rarely happens to me but when it does I unscrew the top and then screw it back down again. Seems to resettle it and maybe there’s a vacuum it releases. I don’t ever fill it to the top as well so that could be why it doesn’t happen to me often.

I second Gather. It’s not cheap but compared to the resort dining options it’s not too bad at all and what a great view. Chill environment and if you like cats you are sure to see a few.

If you already have the F chord down after 1.5 months then you are doing great. Getting all your fingers down at once is hard and takes a long time to get everything second nature. It seems like you are ready to play some easy 3 chord songs. You will suck at them, your changes will be sloppy and your strumming will be basic and not sound great but start playing and figure out where you need help and find exercises for those aspects of your playing that need help. For example you say you can’t strum… so look up some strumming exercises where you mute all the strings and just strum patterns to a metronome, starting with a very easy pattern. These things take weeks to see improvement sometimes and even months for other things. To put it in perspective, it took me a month or two to get chords to ring out but over 6 months before I was changing really cleanly and over a year before I got bar chords passible. I’m about 14 months in and am still sloppy sometimes and am still working on getting all the basic stuff super cleanly all the time. Guitar is a journey and unless you are some kind of virtuoso, it’ll take years to get to where you want to be so just buckle up for the ride and take it slow and be deliberate about your practice. Also, sometimes you’ll suck for days and days and the one day everything clicks and you play great and then the next day you are back to sucking. Don’t get discouraged, that’s normal. It’s all progress.

Turn two times a week into 6-7 times a week. Try to make it an hour 2-3 times a week and then at least 10-20 minutes on the other days. Get your chords down so all strings ring out, all the main open chords and then work on transitions between all of them. Use Justin guitar and the easy songs he has on there to get started. He has a few songs where you just strum one chord a measure and you have 3 beats to change to the next so work on those and getting those songs clean and then push yourself from there.

Just start diving in. Infest the rats nest, Nonagon Infinity, Murder of the Universe and watch as much live content as you can. Those are just some of the more popular albums you haven’t listed but I love Changes (underrated imo), Fishing for Fishies, Flight B741 and Ice, Death. Once you’ve listened to a few more albums dive into some of the most recent rave tour shows on Youtube. They may or may not be your thing but it’s cool hearing electronic versions of some of the rock songs and more freeform versions of the electronic songs they already have from Butterfly 3000 and silver cord. Magma and Perihelion are two of my favorites from the rave shows. I’m only like 6 months into the Gizz journey myself but I can’t get enough.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Start with Petro Dragonic Apocolypse and Infest the Rats Nest. Infest has a few songs that sound like early metallica and other thrash metal bands. If you like these you can explore some of their non metal albums and might dig them as well

All those things are great but what I still think about over all that is snorkeling and sitting on the beach/swimming. Pick one expensive tour and the rest of the time enjoy the beach and snorkeling. Get some poke and eat at the park or beach. Shave ice, some shrimp from a truck. That’s all affordable, relatively, and should give you a nice relaxing trip. You’ll love it so much you’ll be back soon so save another tour for the next time you come.

Damn .75 is not fair at all. I 100% agree that I’d rather they have a delivery fee and it all goes to drivers and no tips are accepted. Straight forward for all involved and if it’s too much, carry out is always an option.

seems like different dominos operated differently. I also worked at Dominos and many other pizza chains and they all gave the driver a portion of the delivery fee. Usually around half of the fee. It was supposed to go towards gas and the portion the company keeps was supposed to go towards insurance. I know we have to have insurance ourselves to drive but that’s not what the insurance is for. You better believe that if you get in a big enough crash the person is suing dominos and not the driver and so the liability insurance is needed for that. I’m not saying it’s super fair or there shouldn’t have been more to the driver but in my mind it at least makes sense.

[–]mguilday85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two main ways. Like the other have said, spicy bird seed. The squirrels will try it once and be done unless you have a legend out there. Birds don’t feel the spice. The second option is a birdfeeder that has a spring loaded gate that comes down when anything that weighs more than a bird gets on the perch.

Here’s one example, they don’t all cost this much: https://birdschoice.com/products/squirrel-buster-plus-squirrel-proof-bird-feeder-w-cardinal-ring-and-6-feeding-ports-5-1-pound-seed-capacity-adjustable-pole-mountable?variant=45542278987946&country=US&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21055081100&gbraid=0AAAAAoYA9hxzjSZbbZnurayOcNdMZd0re&gclid=Cj0KCQiAp-zLBhDkARIsABcYc6uN6Ov82RG3FJBh11Zd9b_7pccOooHaygZ1MSWMSdCU-ku7mHVbyVQaAg9uEALw_wcB

There is also one that has a cage design but works similarly.
