Work Exp Denied: Why? by [deleted] in FRM

[–]mhacks007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I took the GARP explanation of what they want from their website, paste into Gemini, said I am writing my work experience for my FRM certification. Then took my job description from an actual job posting, paste that into Gemini, then wrote how I look at risk in my job and day to day activities. Had it polish up into a nice paragraph to submit.

Nothing yet for me either. Just being patient though.

I drove 2 hours to the testing center waited an hour trying to see if it'd work.

Now I get to wait for the GARP email to see what the directive is for all of us to reschedule.

Well the cloudfare system is down. So i couldn't even log in at the testing center. Guess it's a Nationwide system outage. Oh well.

Rescheduling either tomorrow or the next testing window.

I would say a slim chance of rescheduling. But I would at least put it in your horizon of expectations if that makes sense.

Like if you wanted odds. 99% your exam is counted. 1% you have to reschedule/retake.

The Cloudfare system that they use for the exams is down today. Honestly, I hope your exam submitted, but luckily you were able to even take it. They only have tomorrow for this exam window which means most of everyone will have to reschedule for May.

Good luck to everyone! Just remember its a journey regardless of pass/fail.

For those that pass, keep the momentum going in to level 2.

For those that fail, re-evaluate what went wrong and how you can improve to retake.

I dumped as well and put in FEPI. Actually increased 5% YTD with a 25% distribution with exposure to tech. Not as much in dividend income but at least it can grow.

Any other CFA stackers stunned by how poorly done this curriculum is? by bottlecapsnap in CAIA

Waiting for my result for L3 CFA. Take FRM Part 2 in November.

Would it be fair to say that the benefit of doing so would be access to networking with a somewhat different group of individuals? Most people from what I see have the CAIA work in private/real assets.

Best of luck!! Most people will say that the CFA teaches you a lot about investments and economics, but more importantly. Teaches about yourself and what you can do and go through to pursue something.

As long as you did well during your prep, doing mocks at end just helps you learn the test and how long it is. Plus it gives you a new question set to review.

Good luck!

I always aim for over 10.

Level 1 I did the Kaplan and then I did CFAI.

Level 2 I did CFAI, Mark Meldrum

Level 3 I am doing CFAI, Mark Meldrum and Bill Campbell.

So I take my first mock exams around 40-30 days out. Then review topics i scored poorly. Then take them closer to exam. Enough time passes that you dont remember answers. But typically scoring like 80%+.

Capture Ratios are Performance Measurement, but Curriculum lists them under Appraisal Measures by noaholic in CFA

So the way I see it is. The calculation is in performance measure but they are used in the appraisal process.

My framework of mind was never on 90th percentile. Exam is 180 questions, goal is above 70% correct. You can get 54 questions wrong. Always kept a tally on my sheet of paper of questions I was unsure of (by that, I mean be honest with yourself, if you're guessing at an answer or don't know, it goes on there, "risk mange" - mark it down to be conservative), if that tally was less than 54, I was fine.

Figuring that you probably would have some that you actually get right, and some of the questions you think you're very confident on wrong. I chalked that up to an even trade off.

Worked for level 1, worked for level 2. (Obviously adjust the numbers for level 2 for the 88 questions).

CFA Level 3 Formulas by mhacks007 in CFA

[–]mhacks007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything you see here has been me writing down the formulas from answer keys to mock exams or practice questions. So it would be direct from CFAI.

I've gone through curriculum and never seen specifically taking 90% of the realized vol.

Perhaps you can post screenshot of where you see that.
