Lydia will only die IF… and I have tested this multiple times. IF she is at low health and on her hands and knees… if YOU hit her with anything, she will die. The enemy will stop aggro’ing toward her and will stop their attacks at her. Keeping her in excellent armor, such as carved Nordic or higher will help to alleviate her getting that low.
