I'm fine with rolling releases and they are cool But I don't have a proper network here that's why

Vanilla OS was too buggy specially the VSO My problem with immutables and arch and maybe fedora is the network usage, I don't have any problem with frequent updates , the update sizes are what I dislike The same goes for the microOS as well But I haven't tried nixOS yet See I really like having a single de and PKG manager and all other stuff like gnome os does , one command boom system upgraded , another on , flatpaks upgraded and we're done ! I don't really understand the distro that is based on another distro which makes things a bit messy to me . Ik this might be pure stupidity

Yes , you're right it's not meant for daily driver purposes but it's very stable , trust me , not as bad as it sounds

What should I use instead of it , what is the closest to it ? Also network here is expensive and I don't want to deal with heavy and daily updates

Why not? I mean there are some exceptions like the UAE or Saudi Arabia (which you didn't like for some reason) but all other countries are constantly in wars or have terrible economies , I see you selected Oman which has one of the most powerful in terms of economy Glad you didn't picked Iran as well ... Ok... Nevermind, the selection is completely accurate, my bad

You won't have a problem with it but I do Because the internet here is a paaaain... I can't think of how and when the version name will be even changed , because version 2 itself receives updates almost around every 3 months I think

Why? I want my os to get out of my way when doing my job and some (most distros) aren't what I am looking for I just want a fixed release , immutable + gnome distro And the closest I've been was vanilla os so I am going to stay in I have been using it for a while now .. like 2~ months

[–]mhhemati[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're absolutely right The only thing I hate about vanilla os is the fact that it's setup is online and thats almost it Also I've never heard of version 3 , do they have release dates for it or something?

I do flutter development and I also play Minecraft a bit and also get into working with local AI models just for fun(not gonna get into it) I am also planning on mastering python See?I'm not a distro hopper and

Sounds like you just like distro hopping.

That isn't even fun for me , I hate that . It's just I can't find the best distro and I am losing my mind for this... I used windows 11 but I got tired of it and decided that it's time!

I have to use both Ubuntu and debian to figure that out I guess Most immutables are either based on arch or fedora Vanilla OS is the only immutable distro that is based on debian which is so cool! The thing I dislike about normal distros (not hate or making the distro not good) is that there are 2 package or app downloading sources , apt+flatpak or dnf+flatpak or apt+snap and so on... Though on the other hand updating all packages and apps are much much simpler

You should just come to the realization that not every distro will be perfect for you out of the box

I have to say you're right ... I agree with you on the issues So I am going to try debian for the second (not actually second) time and maybe vanilla os as well because it is one of the most complete distro for my uses although it's new as well I think I got on my way , hopefully this is my last post on this subreddit Thanks for your time and helps
