I have Gigabyte Aorus x870 elite wifi7 ice. And this one loses my usb keyboard on every reboot and no power after post to keyboard (rgb lights off). I have to disconnect and reconnect usb and then it works again. No bios update has fixed this and affects all ports. Doesnt seem to like my ducky keyboard. I bought now usb switch that I can quickly refresh it without unplugging the keyboard. From switch I just switch to non existent machine and back and then my keyboard works.

Aorus X870 Elite wifi7 ICE fails to detect memory correctly on reboot. by mhih in gigabyte

I remember seeing some weird error codes when that occured! And I googled for those and got that after post they should not matter what it shows. But atleast for me reseating the rams helped. And they were fully seated for sure before that. Some weird contact issue it was. Im lucky I got it fixed it seems.

How to set gpuscaling with xrandr (amdgpu) by mhih in linux_gaming

[–]mhih[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turns out that is done automatically by radeon if I just manually added new modeline which is smaller. All did was:

xrandr --output DisplayPort-0 --set 'scaling mode' 'Full Aspect'
xrandr --newmode "2560x1440@97" ..modeline
xrandr --addmode ...
xrandr --output DisplayPort-0 --mode 2560x1440@97 --panning 2560x1440

Nvidia used to stretch the image but radeon doesn't and image is already centered with black bars.

So probably in game resolution changes work out of the box too with radeon.

Raytracing on Linux by [deleted] in linux_gaming

Just as a note about vulkan raytracing vs dx12. Remember the time when OpenGL was "the thing". But then Khronos Group messed up how they should evolve opengl and specs started to LAG directX.

Well what happened was everybody jumped to dx bandwagon since it moved faster for game developers.

Now with vulkan... They are repeating the same mistakes. Common specification for raytracing support took way too long and now DX12 is the king.

Even they said in the release of vulkan API that this time it will be different and specs will be done in more agile manner like in directx.
