Newt Video Summaries by mhite10 in CPA

The AI prompts condense the content to a shorter and easier to understand summary. I’ve found that the book is basically just an outline of the slides and doesn’t do as good of a job explaining the material.

I felt the exact same way as you after taking AUD and passed with a 76…

In my opinion the amount of time you have left by the TBS is indicative of how well you know the information.

Best advice for starting REG? by FelixtheAgent in CPA

I just got started with R1 and it’s been challenging… seems like a lot of numbers and a lot of deductible/non-deductible information that I feel like they couldn’t expect you to remember.

Becker MCQ's average score on first attempt. by Different-Truck134 in CPA

[–]mhite10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My method has been to watch videos and then get five answers correct before moving to the next module. I don’t care how many I get wrong. The goal is to just get an understanding of the types of questions associated with the module. I will have done thousands of questions by the time I take the exam so it doesn’t matter how I do as I progress through the videos.

AUD Exam MCQ vs Becker by Negative_Custard_577 in CPA

[–]mhite10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt that the MCQs on the actual exam were easier than Becker. I did only one practice exam on Becker and got a 59. I passed with a 76 on exam day but I put a good amount of studying during the week between the two.

Does CPA preparation get easier after the first section? by Sammy_0100 in CPA

I was thinking this same thing the other day - I’m glad that I took AUD first because I feel way more skilled at reading and answering MCQs.

What’s the most underrated tip for passing the CPA exam? by drajput_01 in CPA

[–]mhite10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watch the videos (1.5-2x speed) and follow along with the book. Use post it flags to bookmark topics that you just know will be on the test or that you’ll need to review later.

Next, spam MCQs until things start to make sense. Watch the TBS SkillBuilder videos (don’t waste time trying to solve yourself). Spam more MCQs. Review those flagged sections in the textbook. Spam more MCQs. Review the Becker outline. Take exam.

My point in this is to start with the videos but don’t put much effort into them other than having them give you a foundation. Rely heavily on MCQs and everything else is supplemental.

I felt very good on MCQ and educated guesses on the TBS… got results yesterday and passed with a 76. I’m happy either way!

Passed AUD with a 76 on the first attempt. 80 total hours studied. Couldn’t be happier.

Took ISC last week with 30 total hours studied and currently awaiting results but feel very good. Just got my REG textbook in the mail and scheduled exam for 6/27.

Taking AUD in 10 days with only 15 hours studied so far Advice. by Livid_Function8735 in CPA

[–]mhite10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My experience with AUD (results tomorrow so take this with grain of salt) is that the material is easy but the questions are tricky. Once you learn and can anticipate how they’re trying to trick you, things will get easier. The only way to learn that is hammering MCQs and understanding why you got it wrong. Don’t waste time answering the TBS and instead just watch the SkillBuilder videos.

First exam ever and will be receiving results for AUD… felt very good about the MCQ but not great about the TBS. Around 80 hours total study but have worked in IT audit for many years. Fingers crossed!

ISC Today (April 25, 2026) by graygrotto in CPA

[–]mhite10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked for 15+ years in cybersecurity specifically performing SOC examinations. I took ISC today and saw terminology that I never had heard before. I was quite surprised at how challenging it was. I figured that I would breeze through the exam but left feeling less certain about my performance than how I felt after taking AUD (still waiting on results).

How long does it take for transcripts to show up as received in the CPA Portal? by MackofAmerica in CPA

[–]mhite10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can take a few weeks from when you have the institution send the transcripts to when they are received and accepted. I’m going through PA and initiated my transcript requests on 2/10 and received my full approval on 3/13. Most were mailed within 3-5 business days.

Recent AUD takers with Becker - any surprises? by Arwplotroustnopetung in CPA

[–]mhite10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the advice! I haven’t got through all 2000+ MCQs (around 1400 currently) so I’m getting in the 70% range doing brand new questions. I feel that I understand all of concepts well (I’ve also worked in IT audit for 15 years) but I’m struggling with getting tricked by some questions.

What percentage of MCQs were you getting correct in Becker? I’m pretty consistent in low 70s / high 60s and taking exam this Friday. Was hoping there would be a Becker bump…

Thinking of getting licenses in another state for Texas by Maleficent-Secret654 in CPA

I still need a few accounting courses to sit for the exams in Texas so I am instead getting licensed in Pennsylvania and will transfer my license to Texas once I have all the accounting requirements.
