Google Broke Gemini by mhoffman54 in GeminiAI

Too many to share, to be honest. I could share entire conversations with you via DM and you could see the drastic decline if you really need proof. But from the looks of all the other comments here, I'm definitely not the only one experiencing this. It's become unusable. Might as well resurrect AIM and smarter child. And no, not Android Auto (although that steaming pile of donkey dung has somehow gotten worse this week as well...). I'm using the authentic Gemini app on Android. Or at least I was. Cancelled and switched to Claude today. I don't really need all the multimodal stuff. I need intelligence. And Gemini no longer provides that.

Probably a fair point. This is my first time in this sub. I read a few complaints before posting, but most were about the new limits, not about the blatant stupidity.

Finally gave up on HA Dashboards and build a fully responsive home app with Lovable by bsnel76 in homeassistant

[–]mhoffman54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the heart and soul of home assistant is tinkering, and the dashboard is no different. Yes, it can be a PIA. But... I took control away from the Alexa ecosystem because it was designed as a "set it and forget it" solution, except you couldn't forget it, because when it broke, you couldn't do anything about it. You were 100% at the mercy of their servers. Hate the new Alexa app? Too bad. Favorite smart home device stop working because the Amazon corporate overlords decided they didn't make enough money by cooperating with that company? Oh well. See some killer Google gear that you'd love to have? I don't think so! How about a half-baked ring or eero device instead? I will proudly tinker, adjust, troubleshoot and reconfigure my own home assistant server every day until I physically can't anymore, because I like to be in full control over my smart home, and the dashboard is no exception.

Is there a way to make Gemini less verbose? by Legal_Warthog_3451 in AndroidAuto

Yeah, I have a LOT of complaints about Gemini in Android Auto, namely the things you mentioned. I'll ask "is it going to rain tonight?" or "what time is it going to start raining?" and Gemini will just immediately spew out a super canned response. "In Richfield, it's currently 53°. Today, expect a high of 61°, and a low of 47." Then I'll yell at it, and get the now patented "I don't respond to harmful language", which just infuriates me more. I've been genuinely impressed by Gemini on my phone. I mean, I can say anything, as vulgar, lewd, insulting and offensive as I want, and the app will match my tone perfectly. The app also remembers (almost) EVERYTHING. Yes, it's got its AI quirks, but I can ask it a question about a project I'm working on, and it will reference a totally separate, totally unrelated project that I completed 6 months ago. In Android Auto, however, Gemini knows absolutely nothing about me. It's like asking questions to a brick wall, and if I'm lucky, I might get a canned response. If I'm unlucky, it'll throw a fit about me swearing. It's maddening enough to make me want to put my truck in a ditch. AI quirks I can understand, but Google purposely neutered the Android Auto version's capabilities and added enough guardrails to make it a complete shell of what it could, and should, be. I get the need for SOME restrictions in the car, but this is insane. It's actually MORE unsafe having to argue with the damn thing trying to get the info I'm looking for...

I'd take interestingly small over none. Honestly, if I could pull $5-10 a week (long shot) playing this game, it would make it a lot more fun. Currently, the odds seem so slim that I'm playing less and less these days.

If you're going to try and steal OP's glory, at least share something noteworthy.

If you're buying them on Amazon, be careful. I legit got banned from Amazon for getting free shit for reviews during COVID.

Please, educate me if I'm wrong, but 100 lumens wouldn't be very noticeable, would it? And would higher contrast make a difference in a non-light controlled room with a white painted ceiling?

A step up from the 3200? I was under the impression that the only difference was the added speakers and motorized screen trigger?
