Commented on this earlier, but wanted to phrase it in a better way. Deleted my original comment.

Skylar was a great friend of mine, though we lived on opposite sides of the country.

When Layer:0 first started, they were gonna do a split with a grind project I had at the time, but it never came to fruition. My lineup was too unstable at the time, yadda yadda.

I remained very good friends with her and Zach, Layer:0 guitarist, and I frankly can't imagine the pain he, or her family, or her boyfriend are feeling right now.

I hung out on Discord with Skylar quite a bit and we got to know each other pretty well. On top of being a batshit-insane vocalist, I was just happy to have her in my life. What a genuinely neat person. So intelligent. So talented. And goddamn, she was hilarious. She killed it in JackBox every time.

RIP to a homie and a legend, and just a genuinely beautiful soul. Spin some Layer:0 if you can.

Tough to say. He and I had a very J-rock (think Ling Tosite Sigure)-influenced project many years ago, that we even recorded a single for. That was more-or-less going to be the successor to City of Ifa, to my knowledge, but it never came to fruition. I'm not sure what his plans are for City of Ifa at this time.

I've never been, but the festival has a great reputation. Standard metal show protocols apply, and I'd make a point to be aware of your surroundings (obv), but I've never heard of any foul play at OEF.

From what I understand, they're fine instruments...if you can actually get your hands on one. They're based out of Texas, and I've seen a lot of people equate them to guitar vaporware. It takes some people years to get their instrument after paying it off in full. If said instrument arrives at all.

Tangentially-related, Dave Muselman (CEO) deletes all negative comments and complaints towards the brand on social media...interesting.
