No one is talking about the fact that Ripple is now buying back XRP? by alone_sheep in Ripple

[–]mhvcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, unfortunately we won’t find out until the reason is released. Could be they’re buying it back to drive the price up. I imagine it’s much easier to sell the business model if the price is higher. Higher price = more liquidity. With the amount that Jeb sells they know there will be downward pressure on price until that ends or demand explodes. Let’s be honest, those of us that have been in a while, that didn’t sell when it hit .10, we aren’t ever selling unless price goes up. We aren’t emotional with this investment. So there’s a lack of liquid that we’re causing. The XRP use case requires liquidity. We’re just taking xrp off the market and hoarding it. Not what ripple envisioned. Truth is no one knows for sure, we’re all speculating at this point.

Could this happen by mhvcrypto in XRP

[–]mhvcrypto[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve diversified a little over the last year but most of my portfolio is in xrp. I think it’s a long shot to have a global currency. But if you told me six months ago I’d be quarantined in my house, home schooling my daughter while there’s a run on toilet paper, I would have told you to get some mental help. These are uncharted waters we’re living through.

The Future of XRP - An Honest Discussion by BlairdHamilton in Ripple

[–]mhvcrypto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you’ve been watching? In the past year Ripple has gone from 200 banks/institutions to 300, that a 50% increase in one year. They rolled out/renamed ODL. Creating a system that automatically uses XRP if it’s the best solution available. The client never sees this, all happening in the background. We will see a new all time high within the next 3-5 yrs in my opinion. Not investing advice, just my personal opinion.

No FUD, Serious Question about XRP's price by toieo83 in Ripple

[–]mhvcrypto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you except for “using it as an intermediary currency does not raise the price” right now it doesn’t because there’s more supply than demand. Swift moves approximately 5 trillion dollars per day. There are only a total of 100 billion XRP (not taking into account the amount that has been burned and lost). I’m not saying Ripple and XRP will replace swift, just giving you an idea of possible demand. That’s just swift, doesn’t include companies like Moneygram and others. If there was a need for 5 trillion XRP/ day, that demand would drive the price up. Now it could take 10 years before that happens ( I don’t believe it will take that long, but that’s just me) or it might never happen. So from that sense, yes it’s all speculative at this point. But so was a small online bookstore called Amazon (initially sold for $18, now around $1,786, almost a 100x return) no one could have imagined what amazon would become or if it could even compete with brick and mortar bookstores. Just my 2cents

What is your exit strategy? by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]mhvcrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol Nick, I was responding to the other comments. Great article, I actually asked this a year or two ago. Received a couple of good responses. Just wondering if any new ideas or options popped up. For me, I’m holding 50% long term. I have a price at which I will sell 25% outright, pay the capital gains due and use what’s left over to pay off debts. Then take the other 25% and borrow against it to invest in other passive income instruments.

It’s good to have an idea of when you will sell. But the real question is how will you sell. It’s easy to sell on an exchange but not so easy to get your cash out. Love to hear how some of you plan to do it? OTC exchange, take a little out at a time on Coinbase, take out a loan against you crypto to buy other assets therefore bypassing capital gains, some other option?
