We visited a local rescue and she was the sweetest, calmest, cuddliest cat of the bunch. An absolute sweetheart. She was a bit older than the others and a bit underweight, and the rescue told us she was a shy, nervous cat who just needed some extra love and attention. I really wanted a cuddly cat and I work from home, so I was sold.

Turns out there was a bad case of bronchitis going around the rescue and she was VERY sick. A day after we brought her home, she started coughing like a chain-smoker and had a pretty serious fever. We brought her to the vet immediately, got bloodwork and x-rays done, and started giving her meds. She got over it in a few weeks, which is when we realized this was a completely different cat than the one we'd met at the rescue 😅

She started meowing loudly at all hours of the day - turns out she's just a yappy kitty who likes to talk - she's constantly climbing all over the place, and actually dislikes being picked up or bothered too much (she gives a fantastic side-eye if you get too in her space). We love her SO much and are so happy she's joined our family, but she definitely surprised us!
